so basically your comment on Rm has nothinmg to do with prime?
this discussion *was* about Prime, Amazon use RM 80% of the time for Prime fulfilment hence my comment was about Prime yes.
We end up using RM because of price, end users won't swallow a courier, equally they won't swallow the service from RM. Rock, hard place etc.0 -
ohh price.you mean that regualted pricing structure that allows competitors to use RM for delivering their mail? using downstream access that RM lose more money on year on year?
well that will be cool once those pricing contraints are gone wont it?
amazon use RM for 80% of prime? where do you get those figures?0 -

That's none of my concern - I couldn't care less how it it is run, who it is run by or who makes a profit - I do care about my packages and correspondence being delivered on time and my local postie not pretending to deliver stuff when I am plainly in at the time.amazon use RM for 80% of prime? where do you get those figures?
From my use of Amazon, as I say anything ordered between about 4-4.30 and 6 is sent by courier. As that's the end of the office day when people like me are bored and want to shop - I've guessed at 20%. I certainly get20% of my deliveries from Prime by courier. Funnily enough that 20% always turn up on time, and they never pretend to ring the doorbell.0 -

You've got better couriers in your neck of the woods then we do. A few of my experiences:
- large, heavy item (from Amazon) - sat in one of the courier's depots for six days, then sent to courier's local depot (only a couple of km away from here) and sat there for another 12 days before being delivered.
- small item (Tesco Direct) was left on the front windowsill. Of another house. In another street. About a kilometre away from me. The streets have completely different names. Fortunately the person whose house it was decided to be nice and bring it over!
- vacuum cleaner - courier left a note through the door - without knocking - I *saw* the note fall to the floor! - saying they'd left it in the porch. Except we didn't have a porch, or anything resembling a porch. I finally discovered the box (which showed exactly what was inside) sitting in the middle of the back garden. On the lawn. In the rain.0 -

Maybe the conclusion we should all reach is that generallydelivery companies are crap.
It usually seems to be Citylink who deliver to me, very cheap and more reliable than they used to be. King of the hill seem to be UPS who are 100% amazin in my experience.0 -

were you not saying you used RM for the pricing?0 -

Do you work for RM by any chance? Family worked there? Fond memories of long hot summers and cheerful banter with the local friendly postie?
Stop being so defensive it's only a business, and a failing one at that
Yes - use RM because it's cheaper - however I'd expect a certain minimum service, which as I keep repeating - I do not get.0 -

failing? meeting the regulator service requirements and making a profit?0 -

Ah evasion - a classic tacticNever mind, ignoring my other points and weedling a new one out.
Failing as in - they suck
Failing as in - they don't deliver on time (or indeed at all sometimes)
Failing as in - they have an inpenetrable customer services system and do not offer satisfaction to their clients. That's why more and more people use couriers.
Failing as in - imagining that it's the regulator they have to please rather than their paying clients.
RM have failed me, therefore as far as I am concerned they are failing, they fail.
RM = 100% fail.
Fail?
If they stopped failing me so much maybe I'd support them, but as they continue to be beyond useless, give TNT a mandate to deliver to 100% of the country and let them charge their own prices0
