First party tonight, panicking now as there's loads I feel I haven't done. Can't wrap my game prizes as I have no wrapping paper, was going to go and get some today but it's raining, my pushchair is soaking wet so I can't go anywhere.
I'm so worried I'll forget to take half my stuff. I didn't think I got nervous, obviously I do!
At least I know it'll be a good party, really hoping I get some bookings too as there are a bit thin on the ground at the moment!
hope everone's having a good week

  • You will do great!!!

I wouldn't worry about the wrapping paper I am sure people will be more than happy with their present.

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck with your first party sweetie. Don't worry about wrapping your party prizes I only use samples (must be stingy!) so it's not important.

For my first few parties I stuck a load of post its on the front door so I made sure I remembered everything! Don't forget your calculator as this is what I almost always forget and end up struggling with the one on my phone.

Your guests won't have any expectations so just be yourself, your enthusiasm in the products will get you your bookings. If you particularly like a product you will find you will naturally sell more of it so talk about the products you love - I love Lightening Touch and Vitamin C and sell tons of it!

Can't wait to hear how you get on.

if this question has already been asked then i apologise!

I have noticed that there are a few fundraising events in my area (East Lothian) but wondered what exactely i could do at them to make money. surely by just having catalogues to show people won't make them buy things - who would want to buy from someone they don't know? (obviously at a party it would be different!!)

Is it more a chance to catch people whilst giving them hand massages, and talk to them about having a party? Or doing a raffle to make money for the charity and me at the same time??

Doing fundraisers won't make nearly as much money as a party - or will it???

I got my kit last month but all my parties cancelled on me (credit crunch time, they said) and i now only have one booked for 31 october but there will be at least 8 people there. getting really fed up trying to get people to have a party so thought perhaps doing fundraisers would be the way to go.

    any advice????

    Hiya Up to my eyes,

I would definitely recommend doing bodyshop- I have been doing really well in our area- Have done 3 parties now- first was £180, 2nd was £160 and 3rd was £240... I have also done a catalogue drop in my local streets and have another order for £250 to put through... If you want to join please contact me and I'll help you and put you in touch with my regional manager. I really enjoy it xx

can i ask how many drops you had to do round your streets to make £250 of orders? Did you add flyers to your catalogues or samples to prompt them to order? Only asking as I wasn't convinced that catalogue drops worked but obviously they do!

  • HI Gill,

From what I have gathered so far doing a fundraiser is a great way to get more interest in the products, parties and recruitment side of things however it will not be a mega money making event for you or the charity however IMO every little helps and I am sure most charities would be more than grateful for anything you can help them to raise. I think it's standard to offer 10 % of all sales to the charity and maybe a nice raffle prize too, you then keep the remaining 15 % and the free and half price shopping.

Hi I've done a couple of fundraisers - not organised by me - I didn't sell anything through the catalogue but made some money by charging £5 for hand and foot massages. I don't think you'll make mega money out of it but really worthwhile to secure future bookings and to get recruits as they will quite literally be in your hands for 10mins or so!

Regarding catalogue drops, I've only done 1 I got a few small orders but a party booking from it so worthwhile. It just makes people aware that you're doing it and gets your name out there - you never know your catalogue could drop onto the mat of a company director or something looking for christmas gifts for staff! I put a sample sachet in with the catalogue but only because it was in my street and I know most people I wouldn't do that if I was doing a whole estate for example.
