Penny-Pincher, I think you did the right thing coming home rather than staying in for an extra night.

You'll feel more relaxed in your own familiar surroundings.

But please, please do as you've been advised and REST.

Hey welcome back Mrs Moneypenny long time no see :hello:

Aussie we never think of it being cold over there, when programmes on TV show Australia it always seems to be sun,sea and beautiful sandy beaches.

   Pink how awful, just what you dont need when you come home....a houseful of unwanted guests

Penny-Pincher Welcome home, just take it easy and relax.

One day Mrs_Mix your MIL will regret not spending more time with her Grand-children. I can`t imagine not seeing mine or letting them down, no I could`nt do it. Its 150 miles to go see our 2 little ones, and takes us up 3hrs to get there, depending on traffic. It would break my heart not to see them,DS1 and DIL to be are so welcoming and we all get on well, usually we send them out for some time on their own,and we just revel in having the girls to ourselves for a bit. WE take them out, give them dinner, I bath them while OH clears up and then it`s story time, then bed, we just love it,and they are so precious:D

We are out tonight,it is OH and his friends snooker night,so I will go over and have a few glasses of white with his wife,I feel the need tonight.

Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone

.......Here is a little more rant coming - I dont get a break from my children for more than a couple of hours here and there, my sister is divorced (she left him) and has everyother weekend with no kids and he also regularly takes them on holiday. However because she is on her own she beleives that she is more entitled to more breaks without her kids which certain members of my family. She is skint but spends money like water & I try and budget more carefully and I admit we do have a nice house but we earnt it but all I hear from my family is that we are so lucky and poor sister. Its like I get penalised for not being a single parent iykwim. Some members of my family buy my neice and nephew things & holidays whilst my kids dont get anything not even a bag of sweets- they dont even get contacted by them. Anyway do I sound really ungrateful and nasty ? I do get on well with my sister but am sometimes more upset by the actions of other people who assume that as i am with someone with a reasonable income that my kids and myself dont warrant caring about. Also my DD questions whether Grandad loves her cousins more because he is often round there......

Sorry, I'm normally a lurker but I can't help posting a reply to Essexgirl's "rant"

I would say that your children will grow up to be well balanced, thoughtful, settled, unspoilt children who know the value of money and what it means to budget & save their way through life. It is hard to stand back & watch as other family members get more attention than most - what you have to remember is that you & yours are more self-reliant than them, even though it is not pleasant to see children being favoured over others. Maybe time for a quiet word in Grandad's ear about children seeing things that maybe adults miss, like him spending more time with his other grandkids....? I guess that some family members may resent you because you have a good relationship & decent income, thus demanding more time & assistance in compensation

Sorry, will go back to my thundery lightningy corner now......
