OS Daily Tuesday 29th July

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 29th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone,
i`ve got up this morning and found out that i`ve forgotten to set the timer on the breadmaker, thats done now and then i`ve just got to pop down the garden and water the plants in the greenhouse.
There was a huge downpour about an hour ago so thats the rest of the garden taken care of.
The hounds are wandering around waiting to be fed and i`d better get a move on as i`m due to leave the house shortly.
I`ll catch up later so have a good day peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Good Morning Sunnyday and Kaat - and all to follow. Don't think the rain's been here yet. Am up early to get dogs properly walked before the heat turns up. Going away tomorrow, so the usual panic of finding clothes etc. to pack is setting in. WM on, ironing still to do. Need to go into school today to do some paperwork as well. Would like to get some sewing done. Plenty of jobs to choose from...so better get on. ((HUGS)) to all in need of one.

Hi all. We had rain last night - what a relief that was! It cooled everything down and stopped the air feeling so bad. I had been quite wheezy for most of the day but that feeling went once we'd had five minutes of rain. Just goes to show what our air quality is like these days. Everything feels so much fresher now.

Well, today I have some ironing to do that should have been done at the weekend so the pile is bigger than I'd like! I shall try and get that done as soon as DH has gone to work. For the last week or so he has been working at our friends' house so they have been giving him lunch every day, but he's finished that job so I am back to making sandwiches every day now!

I watched the news last night about 'my' pier at Weston-super-Mare and it seems the cause may have been a deep-fat fryer in the restaurant kitchen - I do hope no-one accidentally left it on because they will be feeling dreadful about it. I also think, sad and horrible as it is, thank goodness it happened when it did and not when the pier was full of holidaymakers and staff - just imagine what a nightmare it would have been trying to evacuate the place especially when you think how quickly the fire took hold. The whole end-of-the-pier structure was gone in less than two hours. Many lives could have been lost.

Well, I thhink I'll go and have a shower. See you all later.

Good morning Sunnyday, KaatLady and Beemuzed, and everyone that follows. I'm feeling a little stomachy this morning - nerves most likely, as I'm going to ring our first choice venue for the wedding next year this morning. At lunchtime I'm going to have to pop into town for eggs for tonight's tea (we're having omelettes with things leftover from the fridge) and then back to the office to sit and do a bit of cross stitch so I don't spend anything else. :) I am REALLY feeling the need for a cola at the moment though :(

I'm hoping that tonight we can do a few more bits and pieces of planning for winter. I want to look for a big fluffy snuggly blanket (as it'll take too long for me to knit now and if I start anymore projects without finishing one I'll catch some stick), and make draught excluders. I'm not great at sewing, but I'm enthusiastic once I get started. I'm also half-trying to teach my best friend to cook from scratch old-style, so I'll keep an eye on how that's going.

((hugs)) to everyone in need. I hope today is a good day.

    Morning all,

I'm just having my arv tea. :D Went to the new supermarket this morning and I'm really impressed. The prices seem to be in line with the bigger s'markets over in Brisbane. I caught the 10am ferry over & the 11.20am ferry back so that worked in well. After lunch I had a nap. :D Didn't have a good nights sleep and had a headache so I thought I'd lie down. 3/4 hour later.

Got a slow cooker chilli on for tea. Will just have rice with it & make some custard for banana custard for dessert. It was freezing here this morning. Tomorrow am is forecast for 0 degrees. I'll have to get my bumble bee thermals out I fear. :D

Bookie Glad you enjoyed yourself on holiday. This is a really friendly little place too. DSis can't get over it everytime she visits.

Will pop back later. Hope you have a tremendous Tuesday. :p Byeeeeeeeeeeee

    Morning all :j

Beautiful sunny day here in Melbourne, and it's my birthday! Not been a particularly festive day, but that's ok, we've been in Tasmania for a long weekend, which counted as my birthday celebrations. Tassie was beautiful, freezing cold with lots of snow and we stayed in a gorgeous Georgian cottage with a log fire, and the owners brought in HM bread and blueberry muffins for brekky. Lovely.

Been to the bank and the gym so far, and just sitting down for a very late lunch before making a marinade for the chicken for dinner. After that I'll be sitting down with one of the pressies OH got me - this handy meal planner pad!

He also bought me a beautiful book, called Bread Matters by Andrew Whitley - has anyone got it, and more importantly, has anyone used any recipes from it?

Hope you all have a lovely day, hugs to anyone who is in need

Happy Birthday Almo :bdaycake: The planner looks good. I'm too tight. I just print a menu form from the net and stick them on the fridge. :D

Are you in your new house yet?

frugalswan Hope the nerves settle down. Have a cola. :D

    Morning.

Looks pretty wet out there today. Yesterday was great until 4pm,when it rained enough in 5 minutes to fill the water barrel. I spent most of the day laying a patio, and that was unaffected by the rain thankfully, in fact it did well to wash off the cement marks.

I fitted a carpet in my daughters room in the evening and assembled her new double bed. The found that the new mattress we bought at an auction is a kingsize! It was advertised as a double..... So she was very disapointed. We are goijg to sell it in the paper this week and should get more than we paid for it. A new matttress though won't cost as little as that one.

I hope to finish the patio today and a few other jobs, if the weather holds.

    Well folks, Cheers

Aussie - I'm really surprised it gets that cold in your half of the world. Wrap up warm!

Was going to mow lawns yesterday but fear I would have dissolved in the heat, if rain holds off then I will do so this afternoon. Did manage to start flyladying yesterday.
Need to do a Mr T online order and try and stick to budget today. Ironing pile is threatening to topple over, I fear it is harbouring wanted criminals, but there is no way I can acheive all that in one day.

Hope everyone had a cooler nights sleep.
