I finally got through to tax credits today because I too lost all my income details and low and behold they've stopped my payment on the 7th and told me it could be up to a month before the payment is reset up. How is a single mum with two kids meant ot survive for up to a month with no payment. I wouldnt mind but i rang all day on the 31st and never got through.
Saving needed to emigrate to Oz

I'm 18 and have just decided today that I want to go back to college. My mum said I couldn't have picked a worst day because the deadline for claiming family tax credit was 31st of july. Is it still possible to renew her claim, if so how? cause I feel really guilty lol.
    I  Freebies :iloveyou:

First off your payments have not stopped because you didnt complete your renewal. I am going to assume you recently ended a joint claim and made a new claim over the phone? If so the reason your payments have stopped is because TCO didnt recieve a copy of your award notice signed by yourself- you would have been given 30 days to sign and return it following your new claim.

She needs to ring up the helpline-perhaps she could say that she tried to get through yesterday and couldn't-I tried all day and couldn't so it's feasible. On the other hand she can't be blamed for a change of circumstances today 1st of August,so perhaps it would in fact be better for her to be honest and say her awkward child only made his/her mind up today lol!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

Hi saram1989, it depends how long you've been out of education whether your mum will get the tax credits reinstated for you.

Because my old employer wouldnt give me a copy of my P60 and I had to get it via the tax office which was a nightmare. Jesus I wasnt having a dig i just think its wrong for people not to be able to get through on the phone for days before to have their payments stopped. Why cant they make the payments and then if some is owing back then make the adjustment next month?

Because then more people may moan about overpayments.

You dont need to wait until you get the p60 details. You can use your last payslip from March or at very worst give an estimate of earnings.

The phones are busy because of those people who wait until the last week.

Many renewals (although not all) are sent out from April. 3 months is a long time to wait to renew.

Read my above post... TCO did not stop your payments due to your renewal!
Also, as someone has pointed out, leaving it to the last minute leads to an influx of calls, it cannot be helped. Your employer should have given your P60 no later than 31st May 2008 (by law)- really your issue is with them and their delay, not waiting in a helpline for TC.

    Thanks for that subsoniccoyote.
