Just to remind everyone if you can't get through it is open until 10pm tonight.0

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. When i did eventually get through sometimes and then went throught the press 1 for so and so etc I got cut off cause they were "exceptionally busy & please try later"!
I found this number 01355 359007, which as at beginning of July, got me straight through to the tax credits helpline. I used the number twice and it worked both times. It bypasses the menu system completely and takes you directly to a human being!
Hope this is of use to you and others.

It's highly unlikely that your claim will terminate overnight, as they don't all automatically end together. They are done in stages. Just call in the morning and they'll still take your details. Be sure you have your P60/details of income for the 07/08 tax year though. I'd be on the phone at 7.45 in the morning if I were you.0 -
I still didn't manage to get through, so I'll have to try in the morning. Knowing my luck they'll probably stop my claim anyway. I'd have already sent the form by post (recorded) if I'd been able to get hold of my ex to fill in his half, which is required since we were still together for most of the last tax year, but as it is I don't even know his income for the year so I'll have to give an estimate.0

Peril, if you are no longer with your partner you are not allowed to give TCO his details. It is his responsibility to do this.
His name will be on our renewal to show that it is from your old joint claim but you will not be asked for his information.0
