  • If you dont have an actual income figure by the deadline you can give an estimate of your income. You then have until 31st January to give your actual income details.

My wife and i are trying to get through but no luck so far, as i am self employed we gave an estimated figure for my salary based on the previous year, along with my wifes p60 info in april.
Trouble is my accountant recently called wih a totally different figure than our estimation (a lot higher),
Now were worried that we have been drastically overpaid since april.
I asked my accountant to double check and get back to me today but he let me down:rolleyes:
Do we actually need to give the figure tonight or can we give it tomorrow?
  • Tomorrow should be fine. The deadline is tomorrow.

Having the same problems getting through. Tried all day yesterday and set the alarm to get in early this morning but I just keep getting the same message about high call volumes. Occasionally I get through to the 'multiple choice section' but after a couple of selections I just keep getting the call volumes message.

Well, having just written that I got through. I thought, rather than pressing any options, I'd try just letting it go to the "for all other enquiries please hold while we connect you" - could have just been a lucky co-incidence but that seemed to work. Might be worth a try if you are having trouble.

  • Thanks "Mr Echo" - followed your advice and didn't select an option from the menu - and got straight through.

(What a relief - being trying constantly - just kept getting the high call volume message - till 10pm last night and before 8am this morning).
  • It doesnt usually matter which option you choose as you will still get through to the same advisers. The multiple options are just for statistical analysis and all that mince!
If you just stay on the line you will get through to an adviser.

Indeed. I'm guessing what happens is you finally get through to the choices and in picking one of them you lose your place in the queue when they have a high volume of calls like today.

I'm glad I got through because I've been meaning to do it for weeks - then you distracted by mispriced sheds and Resident Evil 4... before you know it the deadline is here! :D

why cant you renew online ?
  • Security issues. And to be honest I think there would be many more screw ups with tax credits if people were allowed to do it online.
You would not believe the number of stupid things people do in regards to their renewal.
