Hi everyone!!
Well, I am starting my 2nd month today and have budgeted £120.00 for the month for 2 people.
Last month I did well and ended up spending £118.49, however I used an extra £50.00 this weekend to stock up on basics for cupboards and meat for the freezer but as this should last me through this month I won't give myself any extra money for the 5th week. The money I used was from extra money (£120.00) OH and I earned this weekend painting a friends flat so did not go over budget anyway.
Hope you all have a good month!

My first shop for the month has just arrived.
£70.39. Only 39p over my weekly budget. I was expecting it to be more....so I'm very happy.
Not got into meal planning yet for this month so may sit down and think of some things. Getting a bit sick of eating the same things over and over so may have to trundle over to the receipe thread0 -
I'm going to join you all this month. I've only just found the thread, but last month , by coincidence, started to challenge myself to reduce my weekly shop price and frequency wise (was twice or three times weekly, now I'm determined it will be weekly!)
It's for 2 adults, all supermarket shopping, petrol, plus bits and pieces from the shop and trolley at work 1-30 November.
I'd like to have put £200, but it's not realistic, I love cookery and going to the supermarket far too much!!
However, I'm determined to stick to it!
Good luck everyone!"Stay Wonky":D

well i haven't posted before but have spent loads of time reading all the post. i'm gonna join in as i need to stick to a budget.as i have just had another baby and don't want to return to work. ( it was only 10 hours a week ). but my maternity money ends in 2 weeks. so we need to stick to our budget alot more as i don't wanna get an overdraft .
my previous budget last xmas was £100 for 2 adults and 1 child for the month. and could only just manage.the shopping has slowly crept up to about £300 a month. but now is going to £200. i am gonna make it fun sticking to the budget rather than a bore. my hubby gets paid on the 23rd of each month so thats when it starts for us. the £200 is for 2 adult and 2 child ( one child 2 and the other 15weeks.) and 2 cats. this is for everything.
so far i have done 1 tesco shop online and spent £56 and i went to local shop yesterday and spent £9.
i stock the freezer up once a month from iceland, and my cupboard are quite full. but i'm gonna sit down and work meals out with my hubby cause i get so tempted by food shopping i want to stick to a shopping list.
so any tips of meals ( i love cooking) and money saving ideas always welcome0 -
Hi jcr16
There are loads of meal & money saving ideas on here, so just look around! I'm sure squeaky will point you to the indexes & things (I'm still only just finding some of them!) and if you have any specific questions you will find an amazing amount of help on this forum.0 -
Online shop didn't go quite according to plan, as part of my shopping wasn't delivered. Instead of my Fresh stuff recieved someone elses 20 ready meals, just waiting for them to come and pick them off and drop of my shopping. So because of that I've gotten £10 Discount plus another £6 for Miss priced items and £7.98 for substituted items I returned to them so shop now comes to £52.81 (I hope). Still hoping to go another month before next online shop.0

i'm so pleased with myself, i got told about buying formula milk from the health visitor as it much cheaper. so off i went today to see if it was. and instead of £6.18 from tesco i got it for £4.25 for sma gold. i am so pleased. also when i went to boots to buy baby bit's i had enough points on my boots card. i am really chuffed. i am determined to stick to my budgets and still make it fun. which so far has been0

I'm trying this for my first ever month. My budget for me (and to feed the bloke when he drops in occasionally) is
£75 for food (spent £35.57),
£20 for toiletries (spent £0.43)
and £10 for cleaning stuff (spent £1.32).
But £12.50 was for a takeaway with bloke, who said he had cash on him then didn't, and they wouldn't accept debit cards. So we won't be having takeaway the rest of the month now!
My month runs from 25th to 25th. So I may be ok.
Bloke has not contributed any money towards food yet, I thought I'd try and see if I can feed him and me without taking money off him! So if I run out I'll be getting some off him for the month, maybe £20. Depends how much he decides to eat round mine. (He's back off exercise this weekend - yay! So will be around a lot so I think I may well run out of food!)Pay off CC debt by Xmas 2017 #095 £0 of £11,416 :eek:0 -
HOLsale wrote:oh, just so you know, i've got a house full of food and spices to start with...and i'm very good with money when i put my mind to it (now i just have to stand firm!) i've done £10/week for all 3 off us before and that included buying baby wipes so i think i can manage on £25/wk
i would be so grateful if u could give me some tips on how to manage on £10 a week. the less i spend the more i can put towards becoming debt free.0
