First shop of the month tomorrow. I think my slow cooker's been delivered and is waiting for me to collect it from the mailroom at work so three guesses what I'll be buying this week......lots of stuff for the slow cooker! I'll have to sit down this afternoon and plan the week's meals so that I don't buy lots of BOGOFs.0

I think, I'm doing quite well so far, managing to make things stretch a bit further than usual.0

At last I have a "normal" month where I will not be going away at all, so can make some realistic goals.
My target for November is £75. I intend to do an online shop for around £50 and use the rest for fruit, veg, milk etc (already spent £18.49 of it though!)
The freezer and cupboards are reasonably full, so I should be able to hold off doing the big shop until the end of next week.
For anyone who thinks £75 sounds low for two people, I do have quite a few mystery shopping jobs lined up for this month - some are meals out and some are in supermarkets, so that helps quite a lot.0 -
It's going to be an expensive month for me as OH has just announced that his son and daughter-in-law (+ baby) are coming to stay for a WEEK. They eat (and drink) loads more than we do and I always feel that I need to 'entertain' them with the sort of stuff they expect. Grrrrr!!!0

Not really I budget a £100 a month and my average spend over the last 10 months has been £80.
For me depends on the month and how many special offers there are that I can take advantage of.

Got off to a shaky start this month - spent £102 up until today - but hardly anything to buy for the rest of this week, so it might balance out.
Find myself telling OH things like "I only had to buy a,b or c to add to things we had for meals" - is that a bit sad?
Still got a freezer drawer full of blackberries & rosehips from September that I'm going to use for a few puds & syrup.
Did well on Saturday - new cheap bookshop opened near me & got a lovely fairy story book down from £12.99 to £5.99 (Christmas pressie for my nieces), 3 for 2 in Boots on things & got 3 Sanctuary goodies for 2 & had enough points on card to pay for them, AND had some Sainsbury's rewards to spend, so rest of shopping only cost £1.67 in real money!! Pity rest of week went pear-shaped!
Determined to stick to budget this month - might be a new job in the offing - less money so even more important to manage on less - wish me luck in interview!
Good luck to everyone! XOJuly 2024 GC £0.00/£400

Just done my first shop: spent £18.57 on shopping for the next week. Not many bargains to be had, unfortunately, but did manage to pick up two large pieces of fresh haddock for £1.0

Hi All,
Just had my tesco shopping delivered. Spent £65.20. Included in that was £10.48 Christmas 'food'. So I'm quite pleased with myself. Long may it last. Oh also spent £4 on fruit at the market.0 -
i've got a delivery of organic meat coming tomorrow to fill the freezer, should be 2 weeks worth of stuff, a luxury I wouldn't normally go for regularly, but I paid for it by Paypal from a few bits I sold a while ago on ebay. Hopefully this should help overall this month as my car is in for its MOT tomorrow and it's an L reg. Carlton Estate with 185,000 on the clock. Only 1 tyre in its last 2 MOT's but I'm keeping everything crossed the old workhorse does me proud again and doesn't wipe me out too much financially!
