If you don't have a whizzer you can either serve "chunky" style soup, chop the veg smaller, or push it all through a seive so it mushes up (apparently - I wouldn't have the patience for that and often go for "chunky soup") ;)

It's like a stock cube but all in crumbs in a pot ;) Some supermarkets do it with the stock cubes (near the gravy normally). I think anyway - I use Kallo stock cubes.

    afternoon all!

frogga - I've never tried tofu either, just looks so unlike "real" food that i dont fancy it! You must try some HM soup. its so easy and tastes delicious - you dont need a recipe either just bung all your leftover veggies in a pot with some veggie stock and simmer it away then blitz it. RS - I'll have to give your lentil one a go as I like lentils but dont use them often enough!:T

I've been to a memorial service this afternoon with a buffet afterwards with lots of cake - I limited myself to 2 small sandwiches:A no cake at all which is unheard of for me!:D
Got my weigh in later but its been a terible week so am not holding out any hopes of a loss - STS will be great if I can manage it!
    Do what you love :happyhear

Frogga, that's a very good question about portion sizes. I tend to have full tin of soup with 2 slices of bread, 2 slices of toast with half a tin of beans or spaghetti, 2 slices of toast with 2 boiled eggs; but strangely enough if I scramble 2 eggs I only have 1 slice of toast.

When I make h/m soup I usually have a big bowl of this with wheaten scone/soda or toast.

My fav h/m soup is very simple (bit like me :D ), carrot & lentil. I don't measure anything. Loads of carrots chopped, an onion chopped, black pepper, red lentils & stock. I cook it till it's nice & soft, stirring regularly to stop lentils sticking, then I whizz it with the stick blender. It's yummy, low in fat, high in protein, high in fibre and also CHEAP. :money:

    Todays grub.....

BREAKFAST - Big bowl porridge with SS milk & raisins & glass OJ.

LUNCH - 2 soft boiled eggs with 2 slices soya & linseed toast with spread (yum).

DINNER - Chinese style chicken curry (using locally made chinese curry sauce paste, lovely) & boiled rice.

    SNACKS - Not sure yet.

Everyone seems to be doing brilliantly right now. I had a bit of a wobble last night, but I didn't give in to the lure of the cadburys turkish delight in the fridge. I'm saving it for saturday night.

I find if I know I have some "Planned Treats" to look forward to at the weekend, it helps keep me on the straight & narrow during the week. (In my case this consists of bar of choc, pkt crisps & vino on a saturday night & usually something naughty on sunday too). Last weekend my "Planned Treat" seemed to start on Friday and continue untill I went to bed on sunday night. :o

    Hmmm sounds lovely......
Think I've mentioned my pea soup a couple of times....
Its.... 10 onions (yes 10) - cut them up (or in my case my carer does), and sweat them off, add 3 tins of tesco marrowfat peas (rinsed) and 3 tin fulls of hot water. To that add 3 stock cubes (whatever) and boil. Add salt and pepper and if you want herbs - dried mint goes well. I also blitz mine, but you can have it chucky style - tastes really good.

I have this problem too..Once I start I can't stop. Still haven't found an answer to this, but you right, regular treats take away the 'deprived feeling' I get.

RAMBLER, I love marrowfat peas, I had never even thought of using them for soup before.

I've made pea soup before using either frozen or dried peas, onion & ham stock leftover from cooking a gammon (this was before I started cooking my gammon in coca cola a la Nigella), then whizzing it up.

All this talk of food is making me really hungry. I haven't cook our curry yet as I'm waiting for DH to come home from work first because the chicken I'm using is leftover from the roast we had on monday and if it's reheated in the curry sauce, it's not safe to reheat it again. It probably wouldn't kill him, but best not take the chance. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What the hell is that and where will I get it from?

It's in a green tub with an orange lid and can be found near the stock cubes, gravy mix etc  I just bung a heaped teaspoon straight in the pot, it dissolves much easier than stock cubes, isn't as salty and I think it tastes better.

I'll sort out some recipes tomorrow, nothing difficult!!
I don't do difficult in everyday cooking, only when I bake cakes or at that time of year that begins Chris..........(it's too early to mention it yet!)

As for tofu........I have a block in the freezer that's been there about a year I think! I love it deep fried from the chinese but not sure otherwise! The silken tofu is ok though, it makes tasty puds!

I did the shopping:money: lots of whoopsies including 2 organic avocados for 70p, big ones too :D
I've had cauldron sausage, SW chips and beans for tea followed by a little tub of pineapple.
Tonights plan is painting toenails  oh, and podding yet MORE broad beans for the freezer

Well done on avoiding the cake tappy :T
