  • Aaargh, that didn't go well - instead of 20 mins tidying have ended up doing an hour shredding paperwork! I reallly wish my CC company would stop sending me balance transfer forms with all my details preprinted on them....

So still got same number of jobs to do as before - d'oh!

Liking the idea of the 40s hat and gloves Valli - very stylish!

OOh RMC - how do you find out if you stop paying at 60? (I was a late loan taker, too)

Incidentally, Martin said on Jeremy Vine that the interest rate on this will drop back again, because they change it once a year.

(If any MSE staff are reading this - could you confirm please?)

And bear in mind that if it's rate of inflation it's effectively no interest - the loans are designed to pay back to SLC the equivalent of what you have borrowed - but it doesn't FEEL like it, I know!:p

Rang the friend who told me and she said she was told that because pension age for women is still 60, then thats when we stop because you go below the threshold for payment. However we know the pension age is going to go up, just don't know when and that we are in better position because we are older.......i.e. those who are younger will definitely have to work longer whereas currently we only have to work 20 more years

Such a garbled way of explaining.....hope it makes sense. But I now have learned it is not a definite that we won't have to pay beyond 60.....it is just we wont have to pay beyond retirement age

    Helllloooooo everyone :hello:

Thank you again everyone for hugs and good wishes. SO far so good, DD3 is looking ok, the blisters she's got are disgusting, but she hasn't developed anymore. :j :j

Got idle pre-teens lolling around, idle pre-teen friend leaving shortly, DD1 is going to be getting her a*se into gear then. Whether she likes it or not...lazy mare

    So far I've:

    unloaded and reloaded DW
    WM x 3
x1 load on line. (risking light spots of rain)
    Wiped Kitchen surfaces
    Taken out recycling
Sorted european clean washing mountain into separate people's piles. (Hate hate hate...that job... any suggestions for making it easier???)
Put away DD3's undies+pj's pile, started hanging up her clothes...she can't cope with hangers...yet.
Sorted too small clothes and undies for second hand pile as I went.
    Swept LR
Cleaned up poo....VERY unusual accident from DD3... we'll put it down to the medication, and say no more about it :p

Now waiting for DD1's friend to be collected, and DD3 to go out with my Mum, so I can crack the whip with DD1! :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Afternoon all

Not done too bad today. I've sorted out all of DS3's clothes and books with him. I've started cleaning his room but need to go and finish that in a HHC.

Also defrosted the overflow freezer. Which was nearly empty. I seriously need to get my act together and get to the shops this afternoon.

Right I'll make a cuppa and start a shopping list then DS3 room and hope to leave for shops at 3.

I've just made DH sit down and sort finances. He phoned american express and got a charge reversed. We're aiming to pay of interest free credit card and the extension by next Easter. I've also bitten the bullet and cancelled our private health insurance now I know DS doesn't have to have an operation. I was really annoyed as it looked like the direct debit had gone out but I phoned them up and they're sending me a cheque refund. So, thats a scary £125 not going out!!!!! I'm glad i've made the decision!! xx
