Valli I'm reading "Silent Boy" by Torey Hayden. I've read all of her books, and they are what motivated me to go into teaching.

Thanks for that sexymouse will have a look in the library - that's a new author to me!

he does..but it was my biggest monthly payment at £150 (bar the mortgage) and I needed it gone.. so it is.. and seeing as they literally doubled the interest in September it wasn't that cheap either..

Plus he also says pay off the ones with the highest interest first.. my other stuff doesn't have interest so it was my most expensive debt other than the credit card.. which is on my hitlist after the littlewoods catalogue

Plus he isn't the one dealing with all this and anything less on my list something marvellous

Ah OK, that's a lot of money - I only pay off about £16 a month I think which is grand. I always figure that there's no point trying to pay it off early as you don't have to pay it if you're income's very low, the bailiffs are never going to come for it and if you still haven't paid for it by the time you're 65 it gets written off anyway.

I agree though it's great to see the last payment go out so well done for that, the remaining debt will soon disappear with the extra going towards it!

Piggers - that is fab!!!!! Your debt is the same to the £ as what we've got left to pay on the additional part of the mortgage from when we had the extension. Our aim is to pay it off my Christmas but that all depends on if I can start working in September again. Fingers crossed! xx
  • Well done pigpen for paying of your loan! I had a SL which took 5 years to pay off so I know how elated you must be feeling.

Have cleaned all the upstairs windows, that's the bathroom (giving it a swish and a swipe along the way), 3rd bedroom, 2nd bedroom, Master bedroom. Noticed some cobwebs tucked behind the nets so that's my next job! DS2 didn't have a feed earlier and is still sleeping, I do wonder how he sleeps so much sometimes - I should wake him up in a bit and give him a feed! Ahh - he's stirring!

I am aiming to have it gone by next easter.. with christmas thrown in for good measure.. and 8 birthdays (inc mine and hubbys) before then.

The bank are cancelling the overdraft on the 1st September so I have that to pay ASAP as well.. in a warped way i am pleased as I hate living forever in the red and in 18 months time I won't ever do that again so it IS a blessing in disguise.. maybe a little sooner than I had hoped but.. hey-ho..

Well.. I am going to try on my new bras.. I have 1 going back already as they've sent the wrong size.. So we shall both have new scaffolding this week!..:D and another one they have simply not sent..which is strange.

I am in the same boat as you Tete - but I pay £60 - but with this new job that pays less I may be able to defer, which would suit me fine as its only 25 years til I am 65 (and I believe because of my age at starting to pay it I only have to pay til 60) and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to have a big wack of it written off!

But like Piggers, I did notice a massive rise in interest............but I will hold out as I still owe on things with higher interest rate.

I am getting paid this month...........hopefully on Monday but no idea how much....definitely won't be a full months salary but it will be something to help alleviate the O/D that I just had to max out (a month after transferring it to 0% CC) but hey, could be worse, what if I didn't have the facility.....oh perish the thought

Congrats PP - well done, always a great feeling to dump another creditor!
