    Hi there

Thank you for listing the recipes. My very first grocery challenge, I normally spend about £50 per week for the two of us (I know, not great!). My storecupboard is well stoked so will try for £120 for August. It may not seem it but will be quite a challenge for me as I seem to be one of these people that just loves buying food.

    Wish me luck!
  • Hello all,
Can I join this month please?
I did a trial run last month and only came £20 over budget and it was a long month so very pleased.
Please put me down for £200 a month. This is for two adults, 1 toddler and a 6 month old baby. This will only be for food and household items, smellies etc. No baby wipes, nappies etc as I pay for them separately from a different account.
Have spent £5 so far this month on fruit and veg from the market. £1 a carrier bag full so got 5 different things - had SO many bananas!! Have made 2 big choc and banana cakes (thank you, found recipe on here) and 12 banana muffins.

Just a quick question - is it worth shopping at Netto for low salt, sugar foods (healthy options). Try to be as careful as I can what we eat (especially the children) so always low salt and sugar, no processed foods, crisps, biscuits, ready meals etc. I get the little flyer through with the paper each week and a lot of it seems highly processed things I don't buy. Was planning on popping to Netto on Tues for my weekly shop, then going to Tesco after to get anything I couldn't at Netto but not sure if it is worth it. Any advice appreciated

If you try to add choc it all melts when you add the melted butter :o;) But it might work if you chill the dough for a while first, and then add the chopped up choc. Search this thread for more ideas ;)

Haven't posted for a while, but have still been reading posts. Have fallen off o/s bandwagon big style!!
As hard as I try, menu planning, shopping with a list and cooking from scratch etc I don't seen to be able to get my shopping below £80 a week which compared to a lot of folks on here is horrendous!!
This month is even worse than usual as got to buy new school uniforms and pay off gas and elec arrears.
Decided to tackle this again and on a positive note managed to pick up some whoospies from Tesco tonight including 4 pts organic whole milk for 20p and 2 ready cooked chickens for £2.05 each. We had one with salad for dinner, the other one has been sliced for tomorrow and bones in fridge to make stock!
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

Well I've done my first shop for the month and it came to a grand total of £35.70 woohoo!! I went to Aldi for the first time ever and then onto tesco for quorn and a couple of things I knew were on offer.

We had quorn chicken chasseur for tea and I have some leftover, am I ok to freeze this? And how do I reheat it? Do I need to defrost it first? Sorry if that sounds dumb, this is my first time at freezing meals and I haven't got a clue where to start and I'm not feeling very confident.
Also i have some carrot and turnip leftover, should I freeze that too or would that last till tuesday in the fridge?
    Sorry for being so dumb!!

Thanks for bringing my totals for the month over. I hope that I can find some enthusiasm to get going on the budget this month. I dont have the advantage of Mr T delivery and money off since my purse etc was stolen. Mr T doesnt accept Electron on line. Has anyone any idea of who might? or if there is a bank out there for the bankrupt that will be accepted? Perhaps I could change form the Co-op if I could.?
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
