    Hi,
hope everyone's had a good week end, our indoor picnic went very well & I only had to spend £3.00 on some 'fancy' bread & as there was so much food left over, we all shared it out between us & I know I ended up with more than I had originally contributed :o /:D .

Popped into the co op today for a few bits which cam to £10.25 but used my last £2.00 voucher so actually only spent £8.25. Running low on certain cleaning products & toiletries so will pop into Mr. T tomorrow & determined to stick to my list, we'll see ...

  • Hi all, I would say evening, but it is nearly morning now... FINALLY caught up on all the posts - have been on here for a whole hour now.

IOIWE - Your hair looks wonderful - tricks & mirrors or not, you will look fantastic going down the aisle...:A

SFT - sorry I thought it was your hair - got a bit confused trying to catch up - I'm like you, I would love hair like that...:D

Mrs M - I agree about the spuds lately - really manky some of them and are all sprouting within a couple of days - believe it or not the best ones I have found have been MrT's value ones - some lovely big spuds in there that have been great for jackets (although still had to cut off the sprouts) but not so good for chips it seems...

a NSD for me today - but will need to top up on some bits that I didn't put on my list the other day (like potatoes for one! :rotfl: ) Had a lovely meal for DD today - she is 19 on Tuesday and just wanted a home cooked steak dinner for a pressie - she never asks for anything bless her cotton socks, so don't mind this at all - spent a bit more than I wanted to this week but don't mind for that. Also got a big chocolate cake as haven't had time to bake one - £5.45 in Mr T's so not too bad :p

Hubby will be cooking tomorrow as obviously he is at home now - we're having spag bol which he loves to cook - just need to teach him in the ways of extra veg and oats :rotfl: - He's job hunting tomorrow and ringing around anyone he knows - hope he gets something soon....:(

Busy working again tomorrow so will try to catch up tomorrow night...

    Have a good day,
    Den x

    Phew, caught up :D

EL, I try to plan for the month but lapsed last month with being away a lot so am game for August! I'm trying to eat low-GL (for health reasons) so will need a bit of time to scoot out some new recipes.
MHE, what about only taking enough money for the things on your list and leaving the card behind? That way you can't come out with a trolleyfull!
To all those who are feeling embarrassed/worried about how much they spend, please don't be! Everyone on here started somewhere, even the seasoned experts (I applaud you :T), and you'll be surprised how you can shave £s off each month. One thing I'd recommend is giving yourself realistic targets each month e.g. if you usually spend £300, try for £280. I still have a long way to go but the thread is an amazing support!

    Good morning

The sun is out this morning and it looks like a beautiful day. Of course they've forecast rain for tomorrow, but that's another day!!!!

    NSD for me today. :T

I'm off to a day course on the Alexander Technique. Thought this would be a good idea at the time. My consultant hoped the treatment he had given me for my back pain would last for a couple of years. I rather hoped so too as the next step is surgery - however the pain has got so much worse again and yesterday was really difficult. I thought the course might help to delay the need for further treatment but there we go............ If I can't join in with it all at least I can listen and learn.

Daughter, sil-in-waiting and grandson are off to Cornwall for 10 days camping. Gave them half the sponge I'd made and some cheese scones for the journey. Looks like a wet night for them but cheering up for the rest of the week.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all :D

Well it tipped it down all through the night and its now miserable n soggy -so our plan to have a picnic for our anniversary is out the window for today :rotfl: ..
so we are off to pick up hubbies stickfoots for some courses he has done, stopping off at the NAFFI -"just in case" ;) ... So im going to nip to the bank and get out €40 -€20 i didn't spend last week and €20 for this week -just in case there are any super whoopsies to be had :D ... only have to get to friday befor a new week starts -and to be honest there is very little/nothing i need for meals -but i may pick up a few bags of bread flour etc whilst im there :D

We were toying with going to the safari park this week -but i have tracked down the animal park i had heard about... safari park €23 each.. my animal park.... FREE :j hhmmmm no contest really is there :rotfl: plus at the animal park we get to walk loads -so i can burn more wobble :T so im going to pac a nicpic for that instead...

Dinner tonight is to be jacket potato, tuna/swetcorn mayo and salad -i now no longer need to buy any salad leaves, cucumber or tomatoes at all :j -
We were chatting yesterday and we have both noticed how much less we spend now the salad stuff outside is ready.. No nipping to the supermarket for a bit of salad stuf and being seduced by other odds n sods....

Made my 1st batch of yogurt yesterday and had some on my meusli this morning... could do with being a tad thicker(so will look into that in a moment)..... any ideas folks? i don't use milk powder -just whole milk and natural yogurt -but tasted very nice none the less -so im happy -especially when i get 2 litres of whole milk whoopsed to 50c:T

Right i had better go and stick my head in the freezer downstairs so i can do a re-jig and see if i can get any more in there -just in case :p
    Have a great day everyone:D

OK I think iv got a bit of a problem.

My freezer is so full I have to force the door shut. My cupboards are so full things drop on your head when you open them. Despite this I just dont seem to be able to stop spending money in the supermarket. Iv reduced my spend from £400 to around £200 but I always spend that. I keep thinking I only need fruit, veg and milk - go in to get it and come out with a trolly of bits and bobs. sometimes its because it was a good offer so i store it. Sometimes it was a woopsie so couldnt leave it there. Sometimes its cos the children were with me. I do meal plan but just dont seem to be able to stick to my list.

    Any ideas??

How about having a target of what all the money you save from not stock piling food could be spent on? That way every time you think of spending money on food you think, 'well actually, that is £x's towards whatever if I don't buy that'.

Could you use up what is in your cupboards without going shopping at all? Perhaps if there is tinned or frozen veg/fruit then you could avoid the shops for a few days altogether.

There is a store cupboard challenge thread, you could join that one too and list what you have to use up.

Just updated my sig, I can't believe that it is dead on £60! It was £58.61 but DH went and got a part bake bloomer from Tesco Express to go with our rissoto last night, naughty but it was yummy and we were still in budget. That was £1.39 making the total £60 exact for the week. This is for two adults, a five year old and three year old. From later this week I'll have an newborn too but I plan to breastfeed, use real nappies and hopefully real wipes most of the time. I've got some cotton wool and disposable nappies for while I'm in hospital.

I'm off to Morrisons later to get our groceries (Asda store is cheaper but hge and I can't be bothered trawling round there with the children), I am really short of quite a few basics . I'm also going to have to buy a few things that we don't need yet eg toothpaste so I can take the old one and leave some here for DH. I hope to do some cooking/baking this afternoon.

I had a no spend day yesterday!!!

I am looking after my friends children today, and i dont think i can get away with not spending anything!!! as I have no meat in!! But when my friends kids come over they keep my kids company too.....and it gives me time to concentrate on the ironing and cleaning!! They are good kids and always load the dishwasher after lunch and tea!!

Did my first shop for august yesterday and did quite well. Only spent £18.01 which should last me all week, forgot to buy celery but other than that hoping for no spends for the rest of the week:D
