NSD for me yesterday :j Spent most of the day helping DH lift his onions from the allotment before they get pinched. He was going to leave them there to dry out but we thought it best to bring them home.
I've now got 74 red onions and 78 'ordinary' onions (yes, I counted them) draped over our garden furniture while drying out. It looks so odd to see so many onions in one place - shall I post a pic?
5lbs of runner beans into the freezer and about a hundred more lbs yet to come:p Will be lifting the spuds on Monday if the paper sacks for storing arrive.
Probably have to turn veggie at this rate!
Going to bake some soda bread today as I pinched two pints of sour milk from my sister who was just about to throw it down the sink
Tip of the day: If you haven't eaten a certain food for years because you 'don't like it', it may be worth giving it a try again. I hadn't eaten runner beans since I was a child as I 'hated them'. Forced myself to try DH's runners and was surprised to find out that they tasted great!

GOOD MORNING ALL
I am up bright and early,, up with the larks, or something of that ilk,, anyway today will be an NSD as we certainly do not need anything to eat as after finding out what we do have we will not be shopping,, in the near future,, for foodstuffs.
I have enough flour in and milk so we will not need that for a while either,,cats have food, fish have theirs, so we may as well save on fuel, which seems to have come down 10p a litre, in some places,
anyway will get off now and see you soon

Welcome CherryBlossom!! My first month too.
Back from my brief "holiday". Came back with a massive pumpkin, some soup sachets and a packet of risotto that my friend had decided he didn't like. I am turning into some kind of vulture I thinkHe said throw that pumpkin out I don't want it, I said, well if you don't want it, I will take it home, shame to waste it, he had a look and gave me the other things he didnt like too.
So now I am going to have to cook up a whole lot of pumpkin soup/ lasagne I think!
Got some great books from libary with lots of muffin recipes etc. Find them easy to freeze for a quick snack/ lunch. Especially the savoury ones.
So if anyone has anything they are looking to use up in a muffin let me know?! Haha.
Have now spent $25 which is a bit more than I wanted to, but well within my budget."Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -
just popping in to say morning
welcome to all the newbies, and good luck with the challenge
i should be able to manage an NSD today, as i have no plans to go anywhere, other than walk the dogs. mainly gonna get my h-work up to date today .
i've just put the BM on for some rolls, and i think i'll just get a chicken breast out of the freezer for mine and DS15's tea....i'll do it with salad from the fridge, and a jacket potato
hope the skies stay clear so i can get my washing dry!
have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all
Today i am back onto my NSDs :T ......
Hubby has left for golf so im going to park on the sofa with my x stitch later :j
Think for lunch i will use up the last of the packet of smoked salmon (whoopsed to 50c and i will have got 3 meals out of it)... might toast the last of my HM super seedy bread and have it with cream cheese and smoked salmon mmmmmmmmmm
This evening we are having:-- roast chicken -taken from freezer
- hm stuffing -taken 2 hm sausages out of the freezer to go in it, and have about 1/3 of a loaf of hm bread to use up -so will make stuffing balls, cook + freeze the extras up
- roast potatoes
- mixed beans + carrots -from the garden
- and frozen peas
Hubby is off work this week so the lunches will be slightly different to usual -but we have plenty in so it shouldn't cost anymore... although we may be going past one of the bigger NAFFIs later this week-so i will have to poke my nose in "just in case"
So far im still using what i had in my purse at the start of the month -€31 -so haven't had to go to the bank yet :j not sure how much longer i can go... if only i could resist the chance of naffi whoopsies
I think the only other thing im going to do today is sort out my seeds ready for next year and then make a list of what others i need.... then i will have a look at my local garden centre next month and see if they have a sale on
right im off for my brekkie.. have a great day everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Hi Everyone!!
Off to Norfolk for a few days, food will be bought with my spending money. OB is excellent at consulting meal planner so he shouldn't need anything else except milk so our August total should not alter by much I hope whilst I'm away.
Have a great few MS days everyone!!!!!!!!!
