Thanks MrsM and findingmyfeet for the info about Chatsworth. Coming form a city we don't know about country shows! DH said he won't go, DS seems keen on the ferret racing
.
Love the area, eldest was at college a couple of miles away for 3 years and we have visited at least once a year for the last 18 years.
Decided I need to make the effort for DD as she usually has to suffer airshows and cricket when we have days out. although she is becoming quite a cricket fan now (or is it just the men she fancies? James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Steve Harmison, KP, Freddie and Monty to name a sprinkling)
Just having lunch. Made broccoli soup a couple of days ago, but it was a bit bland. Thought I would add some chilli flakes to spice it up but was a bit heavy handed. I then added yogurt to calm it down, but am giving up at half a bowl.
So sad to throw it away, but couldn't risk breathing any more fire. it will set light to the papers I am sorting.

Ooooooo where is the le creuset shop? I just love le creuset!!!!!!!! Fantastic quality but the prices can be a bit naughty. I promise I wouldn't go to spend...but just to dream..................:A
Went to Lakeland yesterday and decided I would get their yog maker. It is a bit of a drive away and so if I had just looked and then decided to buy later I should have had to go again and then that would have increased the petrol spend so I really did myself a favour didn't I? (who am I trying to convince?)
I've just made my first batch of yog in it and it has a very different, and nicer, texture from the batches I made in the slow cooker. It is much creamier and smoother. I think the sc was possibly too hot even on the low setting. So I definitely made the right decision.
We have just had a hm tomato (from the garden) and bacon quiche for lunch with spiced plums and the yog for afters. Supper will be chicken kiev for gs and hubs (gs is a fussy eater) and pollock in breadcrumb for me as kiev's not my fave and anyway they come in packs of two.
We're off to the pyo for runner beans this afternoon and will pick up some fruit while I'm there.

I know Mr T's and Mr A's were doing a special on wine - buy so many and get one free or something, but not sure if they still are - You've done well though, sounds like a nice feast...
No he flaming well didn't but after the ear bashing I gave him for not doing so I dare say he will next time...:Ddenisefowler wrote: »Oooh, quick thought, what about veggie kebabs? (or even meat kebabs, but just one square)
I did think about meat kebabs to make it stretch a bit further but I can't stand to watch people tearing the meat off the sticks (makes me wanna hurl!!)...:D bit squeamish about meat...:o
I noticed in the co-op the other day that the bottles of gaymers was half price (84p for 568ml) which is a good price so I may suggest that they all pretend to be teenagers and start drinking cider again!! Astonished -Do the supermarkets not still have the 3 boxes of beer for £20 offer on? If everyone drinks beer that should be more than enoughThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Looking for some advice from all you lovely people please. I havejust bought my first shin bone to make soup. What is the best way to do this - cook the bone first, shred the meat & use this and the stock to make the soup? Trying to make nourishing soups / stews etc for my dad (very ill with little appetite) and thought this would be good. Grateful for any suggestions please - oh he won't eat chicken, eggs or fish!
Thanks

Mrs M - I love the le creuset shop! oh bought me a set of their pans 20 years ago and they are still going strong, well with the odd chip and the wooden handles are a bit scorched in places, but they are great! I can remember being in France with oh and him saying "who on earth would pay that much for a frying pan?" only to turn and notice me smiling at the lovely volcanic orange one nestling in our own trolley! Luckily the le creuset shop near us is a seconds one, so I have a couple of great casserole pans, a great griddle pan (cos all of £15) and assorted pottery stuff, all of which gets used almost constantly.
Astonished - that's great planning for your barbie, fingers crossed that you get fantastic weather, if you need wine Mr M and Mr A both have offers of 3 bottles for £10 of pretty decent wine.
No spending today for me, though oh has taken ds to buy shoes and he has his pocket money with him, oh that is! He said he may need a top up this month, ha ha, don't think so! Girls and me have made sock monkeys, they're fab! Good job they're meant to look a bit rustic lol!
Edit: Susan - the le creuset shop is at the Clarks Outlet Village in Street, Somerset. oh has just arrived home with my cake cases, £4 for 6, got a red set and a yellow set, will be making cup cakes in a mo!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Astonished - fill them up with tattys and veg. When I do a bbq i always do either some jackets in foil, or if I'm pretending to be posh I do this one -
Slice some white potatoes (or whatevers cheap) and par boil. Layer on a peice of foil with some herbs, dabs of butter/marg, garlic, onion, lemon, cheese (whatever really) and wrap up. Do on the bbq as you would jackets.
Corn on the cob is lovely bbq'd, and on offer in Mr T's at the moment.
I also often do something like a simple pasta or rice salad. Pasta with tomatoes, feta cheese and mint or basil is lovely looking and cheap. Potato salad as well is a good one, or HM coleslaw.Weight loss to date - 8st 13lbs :j0 -
hi, i've just updated my food budget, don't think we are going to make our budget this month as hubby has been on holiday all five of our children constantly eating and hubby liked keep visiting mr T for the odd ice cream and chocolate for the kids.
