Was meant to be a NSD today but hubby had used all the sugar. So spent £2.30 on bread and sugar:eek: Cant remember the last time i bought bread, couldnt believe how expensive it was! £1.35 for a white hovis loaf, that is extortionate. My lovely homemade loaf was still too hot to cut by lunchtime and i didnt want to wreck it.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

That 'no I will only eat it' really cracked me up. What a thing to say when you're food shopping lol. Good on him though:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls

Here we go again
I just slice up the mushrooms and freeze raw..once cooked -we can't tell the difference.. I even buy bags of frozen -like you i got sick of them going icky before i could use them..
Mummysaver just said something worse than Lakeland  she mentioned a le creuset shop  ..I love that stuff and have quite a collection ... but you never can have to much can you
Astonished.. My hubby would love being banned from going into the "bad places" :rotfl: he normally sits in the car with a suduko book.. or wanders off and catches me up near the checkout -which suits us both as when he does go with me he runs off with the trolley -trolley surfing -leaning on the handle, running and lifting his feet in the air like a kid..he is 44:rotfl:
Kymbogs.. i know :rotfl: but I have given up trying to point out that "YES dear that is the general idea of food"... I know what he means though.. if i buy salted peanuts etc..he will want them because they are there... if we have none he won't be bothered ...so I don't buy them.. Its odd as my hubby rarely puts anything in the trolley when he DOES go with me... guess i should be gratefull-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
:T :T Well Done everyone thats under budget :T :T
And well done everyone else for trying
I've just looked at my GC spreadsheetand since this time last year I have had £4760 housekeeping (this would have been £5400 if I hadnt found this site). My total GC budget has been £4605, and I've only spent £4225.08.
So this year, I have been £379.92 under my GC budget. :j which means I have saved £534.92 :A of my housekeeping.
Yippee!
Thanks everyone

) I say "mine"..its our money -but just happens to be in my name as someone [strike]is[/strike] was a spendthrift... and its only money leftover from housekeeping (just over €900 /£720 in just over 2 months)... But Frugal does seem to be said by him more than me now
... and when i say "do you want" whilst in the supermarket..he always replies either -"not at that price" or "no, I will only eat it" :rotfl: ..so don't give up on em folks.... mine has got there -much quicker than i expected :j
I think you're right Mrs M - my hubby is definitly learning, just slowly - I think he needs to see the savings like you say - it's hard for men isn't it, they like things black and white and proof that whatever you tell them actually exists - show them the proof and it's all their idea to have started anyway! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Bless 'em eh. I wouldn't change him though... (well...)

Astonished - did your OH not say it was bring a bottle either? Ohhh, couldn't you just kill them... I know Mr T's and Mr A's were doing a special on wine - buy so many and get one free or something, but not sure if they still are - You've done well though, sounds like a nice feast...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

Oooh, quick thought, what about veggie kebabs? (or even meat kebabs, but just one square)

Had a couple of NSD's this week though I had to top up on self-raising flour and eggs yesterday which is mostly down to me making 3 banana loaves - all my nanas went brown and speckledy and I just can't eat them like that, so they got mooshed up and put in banana bread. So my mum got one, one is in the freezer and the other is fighting for room in the breadbin.
Will need to go to town tomorrow as I have a library book to take back, then again maybe I can ask DH to take it back for me on his way home from work, he finishes early on a Friday. Will save me bus fare and I'd rather avoid going into town this saturday as it more or less always ends up meaning stopping for coffee somewhere while we give one or other of the babies a bottle or some lunch.
Just had a better idea, I could wait till saturday then use DH's weekly bus ticket to go to town on my own while he stays home with the babies
It's chilli from the freezer tonight with jacket potatoes and some sour cream, yumyum.

Re hubbies, I nearly fell over last night when MrEL not only agreed to my proposed spending plan for him in terms of amount to go to his savings, but then he increased the amount by £10 when he was on the phone to the bank and grinned at me - I was very pleased! Plus he's been great with food shopping and is definately on board as he now makes our bread once a week and loves it. Plus he likes the HM yoghurt and batch cooking results.
Bad moment last night as I underplanned for our dinner, so he ended up spending £4.60 (ish, can't find receipt) on dinner at the Co-Op... plus £2.01 for bread and ham.
So I will declare my final totals once the Co-Op one shows up and I will enter it on www.spendingdiary.com to get my August tally...MFW #185

Afternoon all.
Raining here so cannot do washing as currently nowhere to dry it  (nappies and other stuff in heater cupboard). Been to town and used Boots points to get some shampoo so technically nothing spent GC-wise.
Hoping today and tomorrow will be NSD's then will declare Augs on Friday evening.
Hugs to all who need them, not had time to read all the posts as been busy.
