Hi everyone!
Having tuna pasta bake for dinner so thought I would put the recipe here and hope that's OK. I happen to have a few sachets of cheese sauce in the larder (from my pre OS days:rotfl: ) but I have made this before with sauce from scratch so have included both methods in this.
Divas' Tuna Pasta Bake1 onion finely chopped
1/2 a red pepper chopped
1 clove of garlic
125g frozen peas
125g sweetcorn (frozen or tinned)
2 pkts of cheese sauce (making approx 500ml)
2 x 185g tins tuna
1 tbsp olive oil
300g pasta
40g hard cheese (value is fine)
black pepper- Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a frying pan stir fry the onions and peppers and garlic for 1-2 minutes in a little oil.
- Drain the tuna well, and flake into a bowl.
- Cook the pasta as per the pkt instructions, adding the frozen peas to the pan 5 mins before the end of cooking. Add your sweetcorn now if using frozen.
- If using a cheese sauce mix, mix up as per pkt instructions and add some cracked black pepper. Stir til thickened. (If making own sauce, see end of recipe) I use two pkts cos we like cheese sauce but I guess you might get away with just one for a looser mixture.
- Drain the pasta and peas and mix with the onion mix. Add the tuna and cheese sauce and tinned sweetcorn (if using,) and pour into a lightly oiled ovenproof dish.
- Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake in a preheated oven until golden on top, about 15 - 20 minutes.
600ml milk
25g plain flour
80g cheese
1 tsp mustard
25g butter- To make the sauce, place milk, flour and butter in a small saucepan and whisk continuously over medium heat until the sauce begins to boil and thicken.
- Turn down the heat to its lowest and let the sauce cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the grated cheese and mustard. Season with a little lemon juice or salt and pepper.

Morning all
My 3rd NSD in a row today :T and I have banned myself from going out of the front door before the weekend -and NO I won't be scuttling out the back gate either -:rotfl: ... I don't NEED anything -so im reasoning that anything i got would just be money spent in wasteIm on my last 2litres of milk out of the freezer -but i have an "emergancy" carton of long life... hopefully if i go into the freezer and re-jig -yet again i might be able to make room for some more whoopsie milk in there at the weekend...im not holding my breath mind
Hubby wasn't hungry when he got in last night -something to do with KFC me thinks  ... so his chicken canelonni is in the fridge for tonight -i will stick my head in the freezer later and see what i come out with for my dinner:p
I have just got another bowl of dough under way... well we had marmite on toast for brekkie -and i had forgot how much i liked it... so i will be having it for lunch too..... so thought i had better get some bread on for hubbies lunch tomorrow.
I have just checked my purse and have €35 and some oddments in there.. so i have figured if i add that to the €30 in my current account and the €50 hubby owes me..i can have €115 for next month without touching my new months €450 house keeping :j .... straight into the savings account its going:T
Hubby has tootled off to work to ask his lovely ex-boss when its convenient for us to go and scrump his apples-apparently they don't use them
i haven't any freezer space -yet
.. but im planning on getting any un damaged ones and wrapping in newspaper and boxing in the basement.. to see how long they will last me... hmmmm think i might re jig this weeks meals -to see how much room i can make in the freezer
..im sure hubby would be happy enough to take hm soup and hm bread for lunch for the rest of the week -that will get some tubs out of the way :T
:j on the job front IfOnlyItWasEasier :T
Hope everyone is well -have a great day-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hello all
Well with 4 days left I am completely spent up, so will be using up leftovers this week, which is fine, although I think I may have to spend a few quid on a couple of carrots apples and maybe one other veg, because otherwise my 5 a day will come from frozen peas and onions alone!!:rotfl:0 -
Will be another NSD for me today:D Hoping to come in under this month:rolleyes:The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Sorry to hear about the poorly pets...surprising how they have such an affect your life isn't it?
QUICK HEADS UP! MrT had frozen lambs liver @ 47p... I read it finishes tonight. I would have got more than the two packs I did, but there's nowhere to put them
I opened the wrong tub of soft cheese this morning for the offspring's lunch box, so I'll use that up to make a white sauce for the chicken lasagne we WERE having last night but didn't...:j something working in my favour for a change:j ...And can anyone remember the recipe that uses packets of pasta in various SIZE=1]dried[/SIZE sauces plus cottage cheese I thinkI wasn't convinced it would be something we would eat so didn't copy the recipe at the time, but got the pasta at a really good price. We eat cheddar with no probs; 1 has the very occasional ham, phillie & pineapple sarnie for work; & I want to try to use a 'healthier' cheese when I cook. I'm counting on you guys:D to help me out please!

Updated my siggy just now as had forgotten my last shop at Sainsburys.
Just this Thurs, Sunday and next to go, plus any bits in the week.
I estimate £18 on the Tesco delivery that's coming this Thurs (had lots of vouchers - £21!), then £40 for the 2 weekends. Will be tight, but in the Tesco shop are items for the next couple of months as well.MFW #185
