I mix soda crystals with washing powder, half and half, on each wash. Must be cheap as haven't bought any washing powder in ages, just the occasional top uo of Dri Pak soda crystals (£0.59 for a kg from Tesco). No idea how much this works out per wash though... mind you for the two of us we only run 2 washes per week so doesn't compare with bigger families.MFW #185

And yes, I basically did about 10% of the washing I do now when there was two of us but now with DS in reusables and his messy clothing, our messy clothing (when DS decides to decorate us!) it adds up. Did one load on sunday night and three yesterday (prefer to wash at night but as it was a great drying day here yesterday I washed all the holiday stuff- towels, swimming cossies, clothes etc!). Got to say I love to be eco-friendly/MSE but also love the smell of washing with fab con or nice detergent too

PS I have just costed the buns, excluding electricity they cost 5p per bun (value flour used), and if you cook them along with something else in the oven the leccie is free!!!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

My | is next to the Alt key but the symbols on the keys for | and ¦ are reversed!! This is a laptop, so I guess that might make a difference.0 -

Just "wasted" £3.98 on cheese from the local stores, just so we can have a sandwich for lunch. Been going through a bad patch and so I am behind on menu planning and shopping. Ah well....sometimes needs must.!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering how much other people in a similar position spend on groceries? There is just the 2 of us + 1 (fussy) cat, we seem to be spending about £55 - £65 / week on groceries. We do get supermarkt own brands, go with a list etc. but still ...
Sorry if this has come up earlier somewhere, had a quick look around and couldn't see any..
Thanks!CC [STRIKE]2771[/STRIKE] 14190 -
On Sunday we went out foraging for wild mushrooms and found loads of ceps, hedgehogs(not the animals!) and chanterelles. The midges were wild though and I reckon I have over 50 bites.I made wild mushroom and garlic soup with chicken stock left over from the Sunday roast. We had it for lunch today and it was amazing, almost worth me clawing myself to shreds with my midgey bites.Mr russetred is out to collect some more this afternoon.....note I'm not going with him!:rotfl:"Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0
