Quick question- are there people saving for a definite goal like a holiday or are people economising to reduce spending to a happy budget?
I'm going full time in september which means less holiday but more money so I will have to rethink my budget. I would like to give more away and invest in some new toys (kenwood chef and a slow cooker) but also save for a really good holiday
Hi Sian the green, I think we're all different really. I want to pay off the mortgage early and finish modernising my house without going into debt. Also if I'm going to "waste" money I'd rather waste it on a holiday or socialising rather than unnoticed extra grocery spending. OH says we've never eaten so well as we do now whilst spending less money. Even on holiday he was continually asking, "how many portions could you make of this for the same amount of money:p2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

My main reason for trying to reduce my budget generally, not just GC, is that I'm living on pensions which only increase in line with the published inflation rate - not very realistic. I'm frightened that with increasing food prices in particular the budget will get out of control.
I needed to update my sig - we had guests for supper on Saturday so I spent more than usual this week. Having said that some frozen chicken breasts I had bought from Mr A were off when I bought them so I had to take them back and I was given a double refung which eased the situation a bit!!!!!
Kaat_lady - so sorry to hear your sad news.
