Wow, so many people have been on holiday!! :T
MrsM that blackberry cake looks delish, I know I have some in the freezer somewhere, will have to dig em out haha.
Got some Quinoa (apparently a grain a bit like couscous) in the mail today as a prize and some organic rice crackers, so woohoo, free food lol. And both full size packs, worth $10 which is awesome, not that I would ever pay that much haha.
I have $10 left, and checked specials for this week and I can afford a tray of 30 eggs and some veges!"Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -
Going to work out what we spent yesterday and then update sig. DH has the receipt - had more like - but it contained 2 cartridges for printer and they are not counted! Don't think I will make the challenge this month as DH is not going away with work after all so that will be more food and more fruit for his packed lunch. Never mind, it will be interesting to see what it comes out at. Next month I will set it a bit higher because I'll be back at work and we will have a new intake of students so I'll be shattered. hhmmm.... in fact it seems sensible to get a head start on it this week and do some batch cookling. I might just do that and go over in August rather than try to add some to Sept's budget. Hope this makes sense.
I still have my whoopsied 5p peppers and was going to make a bit ratatouille type thing but haven't felt well so not cooking. Can I just chop and freeze them or do they have to be blanched?
Ok - off to read back through the thread for inspiration, also weezl's thread

Hi Chell
I bought the Cauldron Foods organic tofu from Mr A. I think it's the soft variety. You could blitz it in a food processor, but I just cut it into small pieces and then mashed it until it looked like quite large crumbs.
Will update my sig tonight but it could well be another NSD for me. I've got to use a cauliflower so will make most of into cauli cheese, then tomorrow and Wednesday I'll use what veg I've got to make a soup to have with herb bread and cheese, and a veggie sausage casserole. Might go shopping Thursday just for f&v, milk, eggs.
Bree - so sorry to hear about your cat Annie.

Just done my second waitrose shop to make use of the £15 voucher. Most of it is bulkbuy stuff though so it will come out of that budget. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Have you all had your clubcard vouchers ? Mine not here yet but was expecting to find them on the mat when we got home . They have come off my total cos I can see its gone down on the receipt so where are they ? ? ? ?
Ok, back to the washing, was just sneeking a peek on here again.
PS Bree sorry to here about Annie, I moan about DH's cat but I'd miss her if she was gone(she has gone missing twice but returned both times).

Sian the green, I’m just trying to save in general. When I stick to a budget/mela plan we eat better than when I don’t and save cash. It is amazing how I can spend less but have more just by better organisation.
Kymbogs, DH gets paid on 15th month then child benefit goes in on another date, CTC on another and I can pay myself whenever. For this reason I find it easier to set a weekly budget rather than monthly.
OrkneyStar, I’m here holding Mara as I type. She was born a week last Thursday weighing 6lb 9oz. So far she is a star, we are in shock as our other two were very demanding babies who didn’t sleep. Dh is at work this week so today is my first day alone with all three children. So far they’ve been little stars despite being stuck in due to the rain. I’ve got the butter out of the fridge softening just incase they get bored then we can bake to kill some time.
NSD for me so far as we are stuck in waiting for the MW to come. Is it me or is anyone else feeling all wintery? I decided that I needed mashed potatoes yesterday after having new spuds for months. I also have an urge to make soup again.
I need to try to work out how to put DD in her wrap sling so we can go for a walk and look for berries later in the week.
I've not had my clubcard vouchers yet. I rarely use Tesco but should have enough now to get some basic RAC cover for our car.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
Good morning everyone.
im so sorry Chell, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! i totally forgot youve had the baby, i thought you were still pregnant. time flies. i cant believe your thinking of baking this afternoon with a tiny baby and two others. i was exhausted when i had my 3rd only 2yrs between them. i was up and about but the day to day cooking cleaning and looking after the little ones was all i could manage. no baking or freezer cooking fro me!!! so WELL DONE!!! im impressed.
hopefully im going to have a NSD today. i need one as ill need to get loads and loads of milk and F&V later in the week as im feeding 7 this week and 9 next week.
anyway eldest two finishing lunch. baby in bed so im going to sort washing and start preping tea. dentist this afternoon then a friends for an hour so tea needs to be ready to put on as soon as i get back later. i was going to do mash with the cabbge but all i have is new pots so they will have to do.
tonights offering is Roast Pork, cabbage and new pots.... well at least im trying.
hope you all have a good day, its wet and windy here...like winter!!
take care karen0 -
Hi All
I've not taken part this month which may be just as well as I am sure I have spent well over my budget!
Hugs to all that need them, congratulations to all who are doing well and I will join you all next month for the September challenge!0
