  • Just updated my sig - I am upto £96 but all meals planned for this week and only another week to go, so I should come under budget. I have had to estimate the amount I spent in Mr A on Sat as I can't find the receipt, but I will update properly when it shoes on internet banking.

This weekend I had a hotel MS to visit, but the food was awful in the restaurant and I couldn't eat it. I could only find a McDonald and a garage open so spent nearly £6 there. We also went to Alton Towers on Sunday and spent £9 on food whilst there. We went straight from the hotel and we did know for sure if we were going until the day (weather?) so I couldn't plan ahead and take food with me.

Eager Learner - could you please explain how you use A4 calendar sheets. im using your spreadsheet and so far its making a lot of sense. i was hoping these might as well. i ccok for 9 everyday at the mo. i find it difficult to remember whats in the freezer and then to make a huge meal out of what is bits and bobs sometimes.

Hiya Karen - it's on my blog (click my username) but also here is the link:
    http://incompetech.com/beta/cal-monthly/

I find it quite useful, not to mention free :D

We spent a little more yesterday but on house stuff at TKMaxx- a great 350 thread count pima cotton double fitted sheet for £9.99, and a £2.99 metal fan steamer which will help with reducing washing up when cooking and of course reduce energy usage.

So I am pretty sure that for food we're still on £55ish, leaving £65ish for the next 2 weekends. I am planning a Tesco shop for big stuff for delivery this week or next, like lots of longlife milk, cereal, tuna etc etc which will eat into that a bit. Must check FixtureFerrets beforehand...

Well was going to have a NSD today but the weather is so awful I will pull the slow cooker back out and put on a lovely pot of Yellow split pea soup - made with ham ribs. I spent £11 yesterday - so that leaves £89 until the end of the month, but I will have to go into tesco today for some veggies but will keep my budget today to £1.50 for carrots leek and turnip. I have the ribs in the freezer so that wont cost anything, I also have a fair bit milk left so will make a rice pudding for tea and the kids can have that with the soup. Tomorrow will be a NSD!!!!

OrkneyStar, I’m here holding Mara as I type. She was born a week last Thursday weighing 6lb 9oz. So far she is a star, we are in shock as our other two were very demanding babies who didn’t sleep. Dh is at work this week so today is my first day alone with all three children. So far they’ve been little stars despite being stuck in due to the rain. I’ve got the butter out of the fridge softening just incase they get bored then we can bake to kill some time.

NSD for me so far as we are stuck in waiting for the MW to come. Is it me or is anyone else feeling all wintery? I decided that I needed mashed potatoes yesterday after having new spuds for months. I also have an urge to make soup again.

I need to try to work out how to put DD in her wrap sling so we can go for a walk and look for berries later in the week.
I've not had my clubcard vouchers yet. I rarely use Tesco but should have enough now to get some basic RAC cover for our car.
Ahhh congratulations, and Mara is a lovely name :)
Long may she be a content baby. DS slept very well from day one, even though breastfed and still loves his sleep at 14 months! He is quite full of beans when awake though (understatement- he is loopy most of the time but Iwould not have him any other way lol).

Kymbogs, DH gets paid on 15th month then child benefit goes in on another date, CTC on another and I can pay myself whenever. For this reason I find it easier to set a weekly budget rather than monthly.

Your incomings sounds a bit like mine lol, all bits and bobs all over. I do a big shop each month now and then top up each week on milk and other perishables when required as we now get our CTC weekly which has made life a lot easier. I thought for ages I wouldn't be able to get them weekly then one day I just rang up and they said yup fine - d'oh!

I'm feeling wintery too and have put stew down on my meal plan for next month :) Hard to believe it's still august!

Good luck getting the wrap sling on, I never did very well with that kind at all.

    Hello!
I did quite well over the weekend only spending £11.46 on F&V, sausages from the butchers, bread rolls and squash. I went to the local shops in the village rather than MrT's thinking that it would be cheaper F&V - always used to be significantly cheaper. I was in for a right shock! A small handful of mushrooms cost £1, a small bunch of grapes £2, two leeks £1.50 as so it goes on!
I like to support local business but not when it costs almst twice as much as the supermarket.

Anyway, my budget ends n Friday this week and I'm just a smidge over so not too bad I suppose.

OH is moving in for good this weekend so I'm going to have a week off the GC and do a typical shop for the two of us and then see how much it comes to a try to set a budget for September starting on August 30th.

He's contributing to the shopping money so I hopefully won't be out of pocket?

Anyway, left over curry for tea tonight and a day off tomorrow to have the boiler serviced so I can make some nice soup for the week whilst I'm hanging around.

    Have a good day

    Afternoon all :D

My 2nd NSD in a row :j ... Hoping to get to friday without spending any more of the budget ;) ..hubby gets paid then -so we start all over again :T.

Had a minor quandry as the leaflets came yesterday -so i sat looking through what offers each supermarket has on offer.. i was tempted by a 10 kilo net of potatoes for €3.99 and the 5 kilo net of onions for €1.99.. not that i need them this week , but it is a good price -thing is -i would have to re-jig the meal plan to use more potatoes as they don't seem to keep well  ... So I have decided to ignore them :o :rotfl:

Have just taken a loaf of bread out of the oven mmmmm and im just waiting for my sweet potatoes to finish..having them for lunch with soft goats cheese :D

Hubby is at a leaving do today.... a trip to a brewery  ... so heck knows what state he will be in when he gets in.. hence the loaf of bread.. if he is at his "silly, annoying drunk stage" it will be some toast and sent to bed out of my way ;) :rotfl: ......

Dinner -either tonight or tomorrow depending on hubbies state "as above" ;) im making a chicken lasagne/canneloni using some left over chicken from yesterday and a tub of HM cheese sauce out of the freezer..just need to add to with onions, mushrooms etc

Right im off back to my x stitch..have a great afternoon all
