Blueberry Crumble Cake looks delicious....OB is delighted that he can use his blueberrys for it. We might make it later.
Let me know how it turns out, we haven't got any blueberries in yet, going to try growing my own next year :A
Angelnikki - I posted on the July thread with my total for July and the budget for this month, but not sure if I'm supposed to post on this thread instead? Here's a link to my post as don't want to duplicate posts, my total for July and is in my siggy anyway and I'm in again for August with £300 again. I have a small confession, I've been trying to do the GC on and off for a couple of years now and July was the first time I've seen it through to the end without failing, giving in to instant meals and takeaways or otherwise giving up, so I'm feeling well motivated for August
Just done my meal plan for the month and printed it out, going to do a my supermarket shop tomorrow for all the missing bits e.g. fruit, loo rolls etc and then divide that up into what needs buying when. Thanks to the peeps that suggested comparing things on there. Will be getting most of my shopping from MrA as he's closest, but may make a trip out to MrT if it warrants it.
Small query, DH just got an Asda CC because of the 2p a litre off fuel incentive, he'll buy the petrol on it and pay it off at the end of the month. But when the card came it wibbles about getting Asda points which they turn in to vouchers at the end of the year. I can't find any clue as to what the points are worth and how many you get per £1 etc. I suspect its 1p per £1 so you get £1 per £100 spent, be surprised if its more. Does anybody have any idea what the points are worth at Asda???NSD Challenge 2010:Jul 12/12; Jun 21/14 :T; May : 6/6

I'm really sorry if I shouldn't be reposting this but I don't know how to do links and I think almost everyone's moved over here.
My month doesn't end till Thursday but I won't be buying anything else so I'd like to declare at £96.99. That's £3.01 under budget in a month I was positive would go over. So very pleased with that result and big thanks to all you lovely people for your advice and fine example.
My target for August remains the same - £100 for two people - not including 1 person's lunches.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Thank you. Much better today. I will have to look more carefully as to what I eat and drink as they're getting more frequent. I think it's because of this hot weather (which I hate!) and I know I don't drink enough fluid.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hi,
I'm new to the forum and would love to give the GC a go, am sure I waste far too much money on grocery shopping, so here goes .......... could you please put me down for £100.

Please count me in for an August challenge. I don't know my exact figures for pre-August spending as we were one of those households who bought little extras all the time
Anyway, I know I was spending at least £60 a week in the supermarket for the main shop, to that you can add £20 a week for a takeaway when I'd not planned a meal and was late finishing work and probably another £5 a week in last minute milk/bread purchases. So that comes to £368 a month
This month I've done shopping and have been bulk cooking. Total cost so far has been £108. I'm aiming to use another a maximum of another £40 this month for fresh veg/salad (next year a bigger veg garden!).
So put me down for £150 for August please“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

frugalswan wrote: »And so it begins for me today. I've my meal plans already sorted - it'll just be a question of giving up cola, I think, to get the costs down. Which is going to be hard. Good luck everyone!
hI THERE ALL
frugalswan,,,, I wish I could give up diet cola but I have tried now I only drink One large glass with my dinner and also its MrT's own that I have got used to so its not so bad moneywise its quite reasonable in fact. so maybe that would get your costs down,, persevere with the cheaper end of the market and put lots of ice in it
Have just been out to MrS's and bought a few things,, whoopsies,, and then stopped in for a cuppa,, well as usual they had no plain scones, which is what I have, so I decided to have a cheese scone, which I have never had before, and as I was having a cheese scone I had marmite to go with it and it was the best scone i have had in a long time,,DH does not like marmite so was making faces, but I enjoyed it
I also bought a ((thanks MRSMCAWBER)) plastic bread bin £1.80 from the warehouse and got all my seeds and things from the chinese warehouse which is next door to the other,, and buying them from there they do not cost as much as in the shops,, which I think is disgraceful, the prices they charge, for so small a bag.. I also got some ''cardoman'' seeds ((again MRSMCAWBER)) , I also picked up some black and white poppy seeds and also some black and white sesame seeds as well as the others ,,,, these will last a few months,I just need to get a few more big jars to put the extra ones in.
Well I have waffled on enough so before you get fed up reading I will finish now and talk to you later
