BEWARE I have just been stung by travelextras.com They have ceased trading and have got £65 of my money for hotel and parking.Hope you have not booked through them??
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -
We have found the following small, local firm to be brilliant. We have used them for both long (5 weeks +) and short term parking. They will always beat or at least match Pink Elephant (not difficult!) and for this you get luxury MPV to & from terminal with someone waiting for you in arrivals.

Drive to Hatton Cross Underground station. ... A tube train to terminal 4 is 3 minutes, T123 7 minutes. it is quicker than many on-airport parks and you are straight out to the A4/A30.
Or you can travel on any bus to and from Hatton Cross to Heathrow for FREE. Takes about 15 minutes, but buses are going almost constantly and 24 hours a day.
Oh, and for those looking at hotels and parking at Gatwick, please, at all costs, avoid the Copthorne. They charged the missus and I £25 for a breakfast we didn't order on the first day of our honeymoon. We had to leave before 6.30am, so used the Quick Check Out. Got back from our hols to find a bill for breakfast. Complained to the Copthorne and to AMEX, and neither were interested. Demanded to see a signed receipt (there wasn't one, of course); Copthorne didn't reply and AMEX again weren't interested. Apparently when a hotel swipes my card they can charge whatever they like to it!

I have just booked 7 days Maple Manor Parking (Advance booking) through Holidayextras for £44 instead of £64. That's meet-at-the-terminal parking for the same price as BCP etc - but without the hassle of dragging your cases on & off buses!0

Is this bus always free? I thought it ran as a free service only when the underground loop was disrupted.notken wrote:Or you can travel on any bus to and from Hatton Cross to Heathrow for FREE. Takes about 15 minutes, but buses are going almost constantly and 24 hours a day.

There's a lovely residential part of Bishops Stortford along Rye Street that I always park in and take the bus into the airport.
The 510 bus runs past on Rye St (first being 4:40am - ideal for early flights) and then every 15mins all day into the airport. Similarly, returning back into Stansted, the last bus leaves at 00:15.
Personally, I park in Lindsey Road opposite the Swimming Pool - which is a quiet affulent area and I feel pretty safe parking my car here and have never had a problem. If you know what you are doing I now find it much quicker than faffing around the Pink Elephant - especially coming back where there are large queues for Pink Elephant buses - and you are not paying £60+ for a weeks car parking.

Never could spell! Also let's hope no residents of the above mentioned road are listening either!0

i've recently come back from birmingham airport and paid £34 for a week (8 days) which i thought was quite reasonable.
it was off-site and was pre-booked (saving about £20 on the gate price)0 -

Yes, all travel within the Heathrow Zone is free:). The zone extends to Hatton Cross....so long as you are travelling towards the airport, no money needed.0
