It could be cheaper to go to the airport by taxi - it definately was for me (and a lot less bother too!)

If they cover your area it's worth looking at https://www.airportbytaxi.com - you click on your nearest town, and they give you an instant quote for how much it'll cost from real minicab firms that have submitted their example fares.
On the subject of Taxi's: It depends how many of you are going to the airport. If you are on your own public transport is usually considerably cheaper. If you live to the East of London, there is a shared-taxi-type operation, a compromise between the public transport and taxi option. It tries to run to a timetable, M25 willing. Depending on load it might "hub and spoke" you at Thurrock services:

https://www.gatwickflyer.co.uk. will give you the details.

(Not to be confused with Stansted Flyer, which is a bus service from S.End via the new motorway standard A130 - woops - A120 (which will be eventually upgraded to M25 bypass).

I used APH just this week and they were superbly organised. Their car park is very close by (5 minutes drive) and they charged £19 for 5 days.
Their premises is also very clean with nice loos!

I've posted this before but it seems to have been lost together with a whole load of other posts that have gone missing between August and December ???

We park our car with a very nice man who runs a secure car parking facility in a locked area next to his house, about 5-6 mins away from the terminal. He charges £5 a day and included in that is transfers both ways any time day or night. Many other M.S.Eers have used his services and made excellent comments too (unfortunately lost in the great thread theft :'( )

I have no connection (other than being a grateful customer) with the man, but for his privacy and security I wouldn't put his details on public view but am more than happy to provide them to people via PM - just drop me a PM and I'll reply as soon as I can.

This isn't a direct car parking saving but if you sign up for Birmingham Airports free magazine, "Cloudnine", you can claim a 15% discount on pre-booked long stay parking. There are several other offers to members, such as discounted food and drink at the airport and flight offers. And they have free competitions as well. The easiest way to become a member is via their website :- https://www.bhxflightclub.co.uk
Hope that is useful to some of you out there.

    Bye for now,

I search holiday extras for prices. I have recently been quoted £50 for 14 days at gatwick!

First of all I will declare an interest as I do in fact work for Holiday Extras who are no 23 out of the top 100 companies in the UK to work for in a survey done last year!

So tips from the inside are:

    1. Book early - you cannot expect to book on the way to the airport and still get an really cheap price!
    2. If you are flying from Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, Luton or Cardiff call us and we will quote you for our own company Airparks who will always be a really good price and we offer a best price guarantee on this, ie if you can park at Airparks cheaper anywhere else we will match it!
    3. Remember that prices do change so just because your mate got it for for £20 last year does not mean you will get the same at the peak period this year when he went in April off peak!!!!
    4. Park off the airport itself and just take an extra 15 minutes or so on a transfer bus and this could potentially save you money - but there are always special offers so ask.
    5. Always ask for the best price when you call up - we don't discount prices if you ask but we can offer you the best one we have from a number of options!

Most of this is really common sense but you will be suprised how much it could help you.

Forgot to add that sometimes it is actually worth staying at a hotel the night before as there are often good packages with the car parking that mean the prices can either be cheaper than parking alone or it means you can get a really nice hotel room at a bargain price, sometimes the parking with the hotel room can cost you just the price of the room!!!
