Like someone else pointed out Yell.com I use BT's new https://www.btexchanges.com website to find all my business and residential numbers, it even let's you call some of them for FREE via call free option.
And you can even save all your contacts in an online phonebook. Worth a look.:jOrganic, Health & Wealth are my main goals in life.

Try 01252 555 555
I phoned the above number, the call took just under 3 minutes. The gentleman who took my call explained that because it is sent under mass distribution that they can put in a request to their distribution warehouse, but that it can't be guaranteed. I still thought it was worth a try. They take your name and address for confirmation, and a reason why you want to stop receiving it.
Thanks Altarf :T - you've answered a question that I have long had!0 -
I just called BT to cancel and they were polite but a little bit funny about it! They asked me why and when I said I just didn't use it they asked if I was cancelling in response to an email! She nearly gave away who she thought the email had come from and then decided to ask me instead. I told her and she sounded like I'd given her the answer she expected. She put me on hold for a couple of minutes while she sorted it out and I honestly expected that in anticipation of calls as a result of the moneysaving email, she would come back with some story as to why it couldn't be done. But she didn't! So they said they cancelled it, but I wouldn't be surprised if people start to get some kind of excuse from then for not cancelling pretty shortly...0

Thanks very much - just called BT and YELL. Never knew this could be done! The lady at YELL was interested in where I got the information although when I told her at least I'm contributing to saving the environment, she replied; " My job is more important"! Fair point, as I guess loss of revenue means, cost reductions also. I'm still pleased that I no longer have to worry about disposing of two phone books!Official MoneySavingExpert.com insert
With many people using free online or phone based directory enquiries to find the phone number of a local business, the paper versions of the BT Phone Book and Yellow Pages can often sit unused, and it's a big waste of paper. To prevent this, if you don't use the yearly-issued directories, it's dead simple to get taken off the mailing list.
What you need to do
For the BT phonebook call 0800 833400 and for the Yellow Pages simply call 0800 671 444, give your house number and postcode, and you shouldn't receive the next copy. You can also call the same numbers if you ever want to be added back onto the list.
Thanks to MoneySavers Altarf, other MoneySavers on the site and Stephen for contacting us with this top tip. Back to the original post...
If like me you never use the phone books, it is an awful waste of paper and energy printing and distributing it.
BT and Yellow pages hide the fact that you can stop receiving them, but you can. If you call 0800 671 444 for Yellow Pages or 0800 833400 (option 5) for BT.

Great tip .. thanks !! I always stick the new books straight into the recycle bins so cancelling them completely is much better !!
Mind you .. both operators said .. aahhh another person who gets the 'moneysavingexpert' emails ... :rotfl:0 -
Thanks, I've just cancelled Yellow Pages. Our local recycling site won't take either YP or the BT Phone Book so this is a better alternative.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure.0

Hee heee - I just phoned BT to cancel, and the guy on the phone immediately said "ahhh, you're phoning because of the moneysavingexpert.com email?" Apparently he is on the mailing list, and received the email today just before work and knew it would be a busy day. He joked that he was going to phone in after his shift was over, and talk to one of his colleagues about canceling himself too :rotfl:0

Just phoned yellow pages and the woman on the phone was not happy. "You got this off the internet I assume"! Felt marginally guilty for a whole three seconds then remembered the mess last time they dumped the yellow pages on my door step in the rain and it was a few days till I found it.

I cancelled them last year - they still arrived. I will have to try again!
