you're going to use a liverpudlian to transport you about until you get to a taxi rank

canaries used to go down the mines in the olden days to check if the air was safe or not - you knew by whether the bird was upright or hanging by its toes :(

    That cracked me up!

Nowadays we have high-tech methane and CO monitors that set off alarms if the level goes over 2% methane... even though it isn't explosive until there's a 5% concentration we have to shut down all machinery at 1.25% and evacuate at 2%.

Mining 101 has started, please be seated and take out your notebooks...

Lula - well done, it is a real shame it has come to this but you have taken the right action. He just hasn't behaved in any rational way at all which has meant you have had to involve the Police. I think you deserve a celebratory hob-nob! (as everyone knows, celebratory food has zero calories)

TDQO - are you going to make pasties for your lunch in the mine?? I always think of a nice cornish pasty when I hear about mining as I think I've heard the story about them at least 100 times. Great news about the start date and I'm puzzling over your jargon....mmm maybe a radio or some other communication device?? Super Cool Outstanding Service Radio??? Communications And Breakfast Area Station? (you will need breakfast with that early start....)
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Just a quick one cos I'm finishing work early, well done TDQ a bit of patience and your on your way, it won't be long before your complainig at starting work at 6, I hate it on the occasions I have to do it.

Paul it's carp when people go off the rails, it's only happened once to me and I nipped it in the bud straight away, and totally ignored the guy, saying that I told him my brother was on the look out for him and knew people in his area.

Lula I've sent you a PM hope that's ok?

Sounds like you sorted it the best way you could eco. So long as it worked - that's the main thing.
So how did it go at the cop shop Lula?

    Hey guys,

    just popping in to give everyone a quick update ;

a very nice police officer came to visit me to hear my story & take a statement so I said all about the multiple phone calls, emails & drive by. Her advice at this stage was to 'log all the information' rather than dive straight in to a harassment order - which by the way only needs to consist of 2 events. At present it's being logged as a communications offence although she did say that a drive by was 'stalkerish' & that I was right to contact police.

when he next calls I am to tell him that I have made a statement & explain that if he continues then he will be issed with a harassment warning ( if he agrees that he has done so  ). If he then continues he will be arrested & it will go to court.

That last paragraph is now old as he has just called & I told him everything just as advised. His story is that he would never harm me & just wants to be friends & to call him if I need anything or a chat... he's been saying that for the last 3 weeks  . I reiterated that by continually ringing me he was harming me by putting me under a lot of stress & pressure. He then said that he didnt want to do that, told me I'm so sweet & hung up. Again, this is a repeat conversation & I still dont think he really gets it.... I may email his mother again to tell her that I have given a statement & maybe she can get through to him.

thanks to everyone for advice, encouragement & licence to eat hobnobs at will ( already done :D )

    lula
    xx
  • Hi Lula, well done on going to the police about him, that's a really brave thing to do. I had no idea it only took 2 events to get a harassment order. thank goodness I deleted my exs number!! xx
