Hi all
Meant to log in earlier but got distracted by Frankie Boyle on DVD... v v funny.
Well I've had a much better day than I expected... 'mock test' for advanced driving actually went quite well and have been told I should apply for my real test, so the form went in the post today. Along with the cheque, unfortunately - but at least hopefully I will pass and then I'll save on petrol every week compared to now. And maybe even a bit on the car insurance. Anyway I treated myself to a Chinese to celebrate, as I was really nervous and convinced I was going make a right hash of it.
Keeping fingers crossed for everybody re. job situation. I'm public sector so unlikely (touch wood) to be cut, but will probably have pay rise reduced.
I must have a look for the FlyLady thread here. Haven't been quite keeping to actual routines recently, but the house actually looks pretty good so obviously something has sunk in over the past year or so. I think I'm nearly decluttered with the exception of my wardrobe, which needs a cull and then some thoughtful restocking. Am not signing up for the £100 challenge etc as realised I actually haven't bought that many clothes in the last couple of years, the problem is that I've bought the wrong ones. I have several posh dresses which I hardly ever wear, a selection of tops that I bought because they'd do for work but I didn't like them enough to wear any other time, and at present only one decent pair of jeans and boots. I might try and work out a list of what I actually need for my life... will post up for comment!
Goodnight all, have a good Sunday

Hey fantastic news!! And to think you were thinking you weren't going to do very well!!! :j
I'm totally bunged up with a cold! However managed to get out of house to go and see a play called Well which kind of centred around a mother and her relationship with her daughter...quite pertinent to our recent discussions. However was super busy in town and I had to go home although popped into Boots and got a few bargains.:j
I'm so with you on the 'shaving of the legs' thing. My ex liked to be spontaneous and would just call and say he was in the area, cue me panicking for half an hour, tidying my flat and also grabbing the razor!! I think in SATC I always admired Samantha the most for being 's*x ready' at all times!!!!
I too live in a shared house but still doing the Flylady thing and think is making my flatmates do more around house as well!! I like having the mini tasks to do and doing just a couple of things feels achievable. Not so happy about the billions of 'testimonial' emails I keep getting.....way toooo cheesy for my liking!!!!
OK, so I soo need to go to bed!
Good night / Good morning!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Morning everybody :hello:
I've woken up in a better frame of mind, it's really sunny here (yes, sunny in Manchester all you cynics!!) and it always cheers me up
I've had a bit of a re-think and decided to try not to be quite so hard on myself and set myself up for failure. I posted my plans in my diary thread so I thought I'd share them with you - here goes!
So, bit of a revised plan- I've looked at my budget  but what's done is done! If I'm careful for the remaining 2 weeks until payday I can avoid increasing my debts by resorting to putting essentials on credit cards but won't pay anything of my overdraft. This can be next months target
- Work is tough at the moment and with the threat of redundancies around this needs to be my priority. I will need to put in the hours and make a success of the project I am working on. I accept that this may mean less time to focus on my other planas - AND THIS IS OK!
- Dieting and exercise - in view of my current work commitments progress here will be slow - AND THIS IS OK! As long as I am sensible and don't put on any more weight, any exercise I manage is a bonus
- Anything I do to make myself feel more glamourous can also been seen as a treat - and does not have to be an added pressure :rotfl:
Hope everybody is having a good day, catch up later xxSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Hey Shoegal
I think that really makes sense, it seems like you have a lot of work on at the moment and I know how draining this can be. I think with things as they are, as you say, you need to focus on work!
Good luck with the project!
I'm going to try and track down your diary now.......I love the reading about ther peoples lives!I've got my own flat :j:j

Hi all!!
Sorry I've been offline for a bit. I've been catching up with your shennanigans every evening, but I've been limiting my typing because I still get pain in my shoulder, elbow and wrist, specially after a day at work. It's much much better than it has been but there's still a way to go, so I won't be able to post as frequently for a little while. Just don't want to make things worse, you know (it's been going on for 7 months now)
Anyway... jeez it's been a bit of a shock going back to work! I must have spent a lot of December saying "we'll start planning that in January" because the last two weeks have flown by and I've been planning like crazy! V busy, but I can't complain because I know some folk are worried about their future. I'm enjoying work at the moment, although it'll be a lot easier to manage when I can work full hours without painkillers (Dr reckons that will be a couple of weeks yet)
I've been back to the gym! I'm easing myself into it, so went 3 times last week and will go 3/4 times next week. Just taking it easy (Dr's orders) and can only exercises from the waist-down  Feel a lot better for it, specially as I packed in the half-a-dozen cigs a day habit and have still not had any chocolate! Been eating pretty well, so feel quite virtuous :A
Had a bit of a financial "kick yourself" moment this week  I was looking at the T&Cs of the loan that I was planning to pay off in June. I presumed I'd have to pay 6 weeks interest to clear it early, but it seems I'd have to pay approx £250 per £1,000 borrowed, and on a £17,000 loan that's a LOT!!
But... no point beating myself up about it!! I've decided instead to let it run it's course (till March 2010) and will use my savings to get a new - second hand - car in the summer. I was all for getting a new car on a work's lease scheme for £300 a month for 3 years, but can't afford to do that if I don't clear the loan. So, I'm definitely better off if I let the loan run its course, then I'll have a new car and be debt free in just 14 months!
Anyway, just wanted to say congratulations to you all for making it half-way through the toughest month of the year! :T Okay, so some resolutions are proving difficult to keep, but one slip doesn't make us a failure! As long as we learn from it and modify we'll stay on track. I like what Shoe Gal's done - fitting resolutions into real life and not the other way round. Most of us are trying to change habits that took years to embed - we can't expect to change it all in a couple of weeks! Just take it one week at a time and don't beat yourself up if you slip.
Okay, I'm going to go, but I'll try to catch up later.

Hey Everyone
Susu - hope your shoulder gets better soon, I have had problems with my back in the past and I know what it is like when you are restricted in your everday routines...sooo frustrating!
I am going to have to continue in my decluttering and have read just about everything on ebay selling so going to start that.
However I have come to a big decision...I'm going to write a budget  for next month!!!! I really have an aversion to budgets, I almost never stick to them but I really have to do it..this is going to be a tight month and I don't want to dip into my overdraft. Lets see how I get on! I get paid on Tuesday so now is the perfect time to do it!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Afternoon Everyone
