I see what you mean, but I don't want to just put it into savings... Because it's a bonus, for some work I did outside my day job, I want to have a "thing" to show for it. I also got £75 of John Lewis vouchers from my boss, so was thinking of getting another £75 of JL vouchers so I can buy something beautiful when I get my house and it will remind me of my time in this fab job.
The only thing that's stopping me from getting JL vouchers is that fact that I hate going to shopping centres! Had a look online, but would have to pay a delivery charge. Will just have to bite the bullet and go shopping early on a Sunday morning - go straight to JL then back home again (avoiding all bookshops along the way!£27k (excluding interest) paid off in 29 months

The JL idea sounds a good one, as Sarah says it nice to be able to get something you really want - but to have something to keep too
I can get vouchers on one of the incentives I have have through work. Usually end up claiming them when I have £10-£20 - and they just disappear. Have decided that I am going to save them up this year and then get House of Fraser vouchers. I have my eye on a DKNY handbag
Do you just dislike shopping centres? or shopping generally? Not a big fan of shopping centres but love Manchester City Centre shopping! (That's how I got my signature :rotfl: )Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
I loooove shopping too. Especially deals and I have real trouble not buying something that is amazing value. I totally believe in spending money to save money?!!!!
Sarah - Congrats on 2lb loss, really good after Xmas - normally theres a few mince pies/ xmas chocs lying around asking to be eaten (I'm munching on present Ameretti biscuits at moment!)
I feel your pain re: Laura Ashley coffee table. I would love to have a piano and in the past two days there have been about 3 on my freecycle group but I just have no space whatsoever! And you can guarantee once I move into my flat there will be none on there at all!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

I know, spending money to save money really does seem to make sense at the time!
Am pleased with weight loss, but 38 to go just makes it seem so far away:rolleyes:
How annoying about the piano, how brilliant if you are able to get one when you move though, a free piano would be fabulous! Hopefully the one that comes along for you will be better than the ones on now, then you'll be pleased you had to wait a bit. It's really annoying at the time though! Can't even bear to think about the coffee table, it was gorgeous and such a bargain. Sarah Congrats on the 2lb!
I have news of the texting nature. Its always greys anatomy that does it. all that romance and near death, makes me wonder what I am doing
so I texted him, just a question about some thing very non relationshippy and he answered(eventually) and suggested after some banter that we meet for a drink(!)! ! I am busy this week but he said the week after- , I shall try to make some time (two jobs Buffy has no social life for a reason) and well I am excited.
I have been playing it very cool and would recommand it!
but it is hard when I think I am in love with the guy!
(I realise that last bit sounds pathetic sorry)

I love having something to aim for like that, my sealed pot challenge will go towards a handbag, I think, even better if it's from a work incentive, that makes it free:jPay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

Right, that's decided then! I'm going to get £50 of JL vouchers through work discount (can get them for £46 with free delivery!):j - can only get them £50 at a time. Will use the other £29 on something else. Ooh, might look for some speakers for my MP3 player!! Have no idea how much they cost - will go and investigate...
Buffy - great news on the impending date, btw! Playing it cools works then :T£27k (excluding interest) paid off in 29 months

Btw, it doesn't sound pathetic at all, we all know exactly how you feel. So go for it!Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
it is a bit.
he texted to see if we could get together after work. but we can't really, I don't finish till 8 and would be starving and tired. not a good look.
but in classic (practical)Buffy style I think I might have put him off! cos in a text oh I don't know!
I want to magic myself up an empty flat that I can meet him at, not for the naughty stuff but just so I don't have to worry about where to go.
