They're doing a prog about Fighting the Credit Crunch. It started at 7pm, but you might be able to catch the last 30 mins.

Interesting stuff, but far too much emphasis on using IVAs to get out of debt. I've just emailed them with my thoughts on personal debt and IVAs. Gave a mention of MSE.com as well. Wonder if it'll get read out

(just in case link doesn't work, it's in the Life & Style bit of Times Online)

Read this in today's Sunday Times - some good tips methinks!

Have just read, very interesting, especially the bit about what to wear, "what your mother would describe as lovely." Not getting a hat though! I do sometimes rush around in holey jumpers and scuffed shoes, don't wan't to give the impression that I've given up:o

Can't wait until everything fits, pre LBM or possibly just pre Lula's thread I would have rushed out with a list of lovely things to get. Am just going to have to make do with the thinks I already have that fit for now. Then I will have a massive cull of the wardrobe, making sure only lovely things are left, leaving me with no option but to wear nice things all the time. Often end up wearing the same clothes in rotation as it's easier, so they will have to go. One of my 100 things was to always wear nice clothes so I will have to do it. No more bland work clothes!:j

Also interesting about "the list," lots of hers matched mine, obviously as most of us want more or less the same things in some respects, intelligent, kind, etc, but it was interesting to read how some of them could be negotiable, always thought my list was non negotiable, but realise I could bend the rules quite a lot for some of them.

She does have some very sensible tips I think, much more readable/doable than the usual "how to find a man" stuff, but could do with a bit more on where to meet them in the first place, which is the biggest problem for me.

Her book sounds very interesting. [strike]Sounds like a good addition to my self help pile.[/strike] I will resist!

Well I guess "where to find the ideal man" is the holy grail isn't it! I think the article implies that we need to get out more!! I thought the tips were pretty useful, and much better than the usual tips on body language or joining an evening class. I'm not sure about the hat tip either (although I did get a lovely red ManU beany hat for Christmas!!)

Will re-read the article later and might even invest in the book. I've still got my £75 bonus that I'm having difficulty allocating  . Might invest in some Waterstones vouchers - that could keep me in books for the rest of the year! If I do buy it, I could copy type the best bits in this forum :p

Hmm, I have enough Waterstones points to get it free and one of my 100 things is to get a free book each month as am spending far too much, but have already got this month's free book. Another one won't hurt though and I do think it sounds quite a useful book, am impressed with how it seems to relate to my situation rather than the body language etc things. Grrr, this is how I talk myself into buying things, "get this, it will change your life!" At least this one will be free:rolleyes:

SuSu, if you do get it don't get the vouchers, go through Quidco and use a free delivery code from the discounts board, much more DFW!;)

We always pick things up in the New Year, so I haven't been panicking (much!) Re Liverpool as Premiership Champs...don't even go there!!

By the way, I'd like to point out that while I live in Leafy Surrey, I am a Manc and I have been to Old Trafford (have seen games from all four sides of the stadium, so think that qualifies me as a proper fan :D ) I plan to move back up north in 3 years or so, so was thinking of getting my name on the season ticket waiting list now - should be a space in 2012!

Ooh, top tip - thanks!! I always use Quidco, but haven't got into the habit of checking out the discounts board for free delivery (I tend to buy more books to qualify for free delivery :o - damn my expensive book habit!)

tbh, I don't fancy using my bonus for Waterstones vouchers, but I don't know what to spend it on! I want to use it either for something tangible (but as I don't have my own house yet, that doesn't make sense), or on an experience, like theatre tickets (but who to go with?!!) Didn't think it would be this difficult to spend a free £75!

He, he! I, too, am a proper Manc - and very proud to be!! Have been a few times, only managed once so far this season. I've sat in a few different places, even once with the away fans!!! :footie: :footie: :footie: :j

I would just put it in your savings to be honest, to get together as big a deposit as possible, that's where all my work bonus money goes. The tangible thing I want is a house! If you don't know what to spend it on put it the your savings until you do- don't fritter it! Something fab may come along that you need;) during the year.

Am still seething about the gorgeous coffee table I saw in Laura Ashley, reduced from £425 to £150, as had no way of collecting it and nowhere to store it:mad: Would have looked fab in my future home! Would definitely have parted with bonus money for that. Have to keep telling myself there will still be bargains to be had when I finally get a house.
