Buffy - tis indeed hard, and I don't think guys are as 'text experts' as women...well some of them anyway and I don't think read as much into texts as we do so very often don't read texts they receive properly and answer as such.

I don't have any good advice just wanted to send some best wishes... this whole dating / relationship thing can be really stressful at times...

yep, which is why I have happily avoided itfor years!

I texted on 1 Jan to say I'd be back home on Friday, did he want to meet up over the weekend. He replied within about 30 mins saying unfortunately not free, still have the bl**dy flu as well :o(

That's it, no contact since then. Just as well, really, cos I was poorly sick over the weekend.

Before then (up to Xmas day night) he was 9 times out of 10 the first to make contact. Perhaps he doesn't respect me anymore :rotfl:

    :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hmm, well in these situations I would normally allow myself one text ...seeing as he replied to your last text.

Being a bit manipulative :o I would also try and word it so that it contained something he had to reply to......

However I also think Sarah is right...I just never have enough self control to do this....I normally manage for a few days and then into my head pops a 'perfect' reason to text him

This has been really fun this evening but I have to go and make my lunch for tomorrow and get to bed...

    Good night!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

SuSu, where flirty texting is involved I for one would have done exactly the same, moral stance be damned, it's HUGE FUN:D

Re getting in touch, I would advise not, not a good idea to let him think he has you running after him. Let him come running to you. (says she, who would probably contact him) Only you can tell whether you think it might come across in the wrong way. It's frustrating though because you want to have fun again but you don't want to seem needy. (Am a past master at that:rolleyes: ) I totally understand how you feel because you want to have fun and the attention is so flattering. We won't judge you at all, if that's the right word, we've all been there. You should do what is best for you. It's the waiting for the phone to beep that is soooooo frustrating:mad: I hate being stuck in limbo.

Please don't feel you can't tell us anything in case we think badly of it, we have all been there, that's why we're all here.;) (I hope none of this sounded too preachy)

Cheers Sarah, and everyone else :kisses3:

You're the only ones who "get" this situation - like a lot of you all my other friends are married, so they don't get what it's like to be single for most of your adult life (god that sounds depressing, but it's a whole lot less depressing that being married to the wrong bloke for most of your adult life!)

Thing is.... there's a chance I'm going to have deal with DT as part of my job. We don't work in the same office, but our paths do cross.

I'm in meetings all day tomorrow & Thursday, so I might leave it till Friday and get in touch. Fortunately, another part of this getting older lark, and getting financially dependent, is that I see blokes as a nice-to-have rather than a must-have, so I don't feel needy at all. And believe me, I've done needy - crying and begging in my 20s, can you believe it  Mind you, I was veh veh drunk when that happened :rotfl:

Buffy I know what you mean about protecting yourself. Thats the reason why I wouldn't text either.
Also though maybe you should bomb your not boyfriend off if you'd be upset that he got a girlfriend? I know it's not as simple as that but I couldn't be FB's with someone I'd be gutted about if they got themselves a partner. Do ya know what I mean?

  • SuSu...why do you think he doesn't respect you anymore? I'm sure that's not the case.

Maybe he's lost/broke his phone? have you tried ringing it?

God, tonight this thread is making me really wish I had a boyfriend! I know it can be rubbish and miserable and the getting over it is awful, but SuSu talking about the texting and make up and Buffy talking about being in contact with their exes has made me realise how much I miss the excitement of it all and how brilliant it is when it all goes well. I want a boyfriend!

Am off to destroy my 100 list and replace every single item with "get a boyfriend". Except number 2. Which actually is "get a boyfriend." (Might leave number 1 on there as well;) )
