Hmm, I might call it "fit into my clothes" instead. Am sick of putting "lose weight" and failing, at least that way I have a target not determined by pounds, but I do need to lose a bit. This is the time of year I always think ooh I can just go for half to one pound a week next year, I won't even notice I'm dieting! Has never worked yet:rolleyes:

My new years resolution is not to lose weight, but to learn to cook properly. I have a Jamie Oliver book coming for Christmas and I plan to use it. The amount of times I go to the shop and buy junk for dinner because I just can't be bothered/don't know how to cook properly.

If I happen to lose weight then that's an added bonus, but I'm not going to focus on that.

  • Ooh. Learning to cook. I have that book too, may as well use it instead of just looking at the pictures and imagining the day I will be cooking in my own house (using all le creuset of course).:D

  • pawn crackers are no more.

I am getting hot sitting with the laptop.

it was nice to have a day off today. and just relax.

    my list has started.

ooo sarah what are you including in your 4000?

cos I am really not sure.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Buffy, I am not including any essentials, so rent, dentist, prescriptions, car costs and petrol don't count, am including everything else, bills, food, phone, internet etc. If anything else that comes up I will decide whether it is an essential or a want. Are you including your driving lessons?

  • driving lessons are a bit of a sticky point.

monthly they would come to about 80

    22 x 4= 88.

which ruins the 333 per month I was doing.

and ruins the budget I just worked out!

You shouldn't need lessons for the whole year with any luck, 6 months would mean £44 a month if you spread the cost over the year. You could probably count the whole thing as an essential though, I am not counting any car costs and learning to drive is an essential for you really if you are wanting to change jobs.

  • crikey do you know I hadn't thought of that, that eventually I wouldn't need lessons!

but then I guess I will need petrol!!!

    hmmm ponders.

I guess it won't go into the 4000 either way (lessons or petrol etc)

    or is a 100 a month completely unrealistic??/

Sorry I got a phone call from a drunk friend who's been crying her eyes out at me for the last hour and a bit.

God knows about the job offer, I don't think I'll ever hear from them again to be honest.

I would count all car costs, lessons, insurance etc as outside the 4k maybe give it a month and see how you are doing with other costs, if you think you can manage to include the driving lessons in the 4k after that, then maybe do it as it all helps towards your DFD.

Am off to bed, v tired, good luck thinking of more things for the 100 list! Night night xxx

  • Hi All,

Feeling guilty as I just spent a fortune in Tesco. I now have £35 budget left for the rest of the month!

At least I bought a 4 pack tin of baked beans so that will do a a few meals :D

There's something about alcohol and xmas that is dangerous when supermarkets are involved. I doubt I will even drink it, red wine is my tipple at home.
