  • Hi NDP, was thinking we had scared you off! You should definitely go, for all the reasons under the pro list. It will be so much easier because everyone will be there for the same reason as you, and lots of them will be feeling nervous too, you won't be the only shy person there, I promise you.

One the one hand, we must put ourselves in the shop window with optimism, otherwise we might as well give up.

    Exactly!

As Michelle says, £25 won't bankrupt you this once. And we need you to go so you can report back! Good luck xxx

    Hello anyone who's about ... ?

Probably just me here on a saturday night :o .

Absolutely yes to getting out & meeting new people & that sounds like the best way to do it. I've decided to stay single forever as my experiences have led me to believe that only 2 types of men are attracted to me :

the first is the type that thinks because I'm single & a parent I am desperate & therefore should be damn grateful just to have their attention so will put up with being treated very badly

the second is the type that thinks that because I'm single & a parent I am both capable of & love doing everything by myself & my main aim in life is to simply serve others & will therefore put up with being treated very badly

I've been bright, bubbly, friendly & optimistic for 6 years & just cant be bothered anymore. I'm going to become a vile tempered, sour faced, thin, gin drinking feminist who always speaks her mind & throws all tact & diplomacy to the winds :p .

Thanks for that sarahb, as I sit & sip my gin & bitter ( oh the irony) lemon, I think those 3 words mean more to me than any of the 3 words that any man has ever uttered :D

by the way, I went to tesco to buy some batteries & amongst all the other stuff I came out with :o were som brilliant hiball glasses ; really huge with very heavy bases so far less knock-overable ;) .

Think I have my life plan in order now : another 10 years  parenting alongside another 20 odd   years working, a cat /dog or two with some stints working in charity shops interpersed with saga holidays. As I have so many clothes that are as yet unwearable, if I really concentrate & stick to the holy cack pants diet I should probably have enough to last me a lifetime, fashion no longer matters  & how much fun will it be to be wearing jeans with lepoard print stilettoes & a ramones t shirt when I'm 70

At what age does one officially become a spinster rather than simply 'single' ?
