Aah well then, you will be able to do a bit of coleslaw with that, shredded cabbage, grated carrot, finely diced onion, bit of mayo, homemade or shop bought, possibly add a bit of mustard, spot of lemon juice, maybe a tad of chopped garlic, choice is all yours!
Then you can shred up some more cabbage and add to soup - carrot, leek and/or onion, turnip/swede (whatever you call it), lentils/split peas/broth mix and some stock, and anything else that needs using.
Shredded cabbage is great in stir fries, added practically at the last minute is my personal choice, so it's still nice and crunchy.
Then you can steam/boil remaining cabbage in quarters - take the juice remaining. Make base for white/bechamel sauce, add some curry spices, then add cabbage water. Add more liquid, veg stock if required for sauce. Pour over cabbage. Bake in oven for about 20 mins. (I do have a recipe for this one, but can't put my hands on it at the moment - too many cook books!)
Goodness knows what to do with that 2nd cabbage though!0 -

There's a thread on Cornish Pasties, and proper ones have turnip in them if you check the link below; and I'm failrly certain we have a thread on turnips or swedes (not quite the same I know, but similar enough) and I'll merge these posts into it when I find it.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to interesting things to do with one of these? I had one in a stew pack that was on offer - used the other veg in recipes I was doing - the swede/turnip remains! (I don't even know which it is - what is the difference?! It is smallish and white/pinky/green in colour - is that a turnip?)
I hate stewed turnip - brings back school dinners too vividly - is there anything else you can do with them?

ps I also have a leek, a pepper, potatoes, carrots, celery if that helps and usual store cupboard stuff including lentils of differing shades!0 -
I would make lentil soup with it - (btw its a turnip) - would chop it up into small chunks along with carrot, leek and potatos, add stock and boil till cooked.

turnip and/or swede are both really nice additions to a HM vegetable curry, turnip giving a slightly bitter radishy flavour & swede gving a sweeter flavour. peel & cube & add along with any other root veg you're using0
