:bdaycake:Happy Birthday Taplady
Well, having a slow start to the day, catching up on about 4 days worth of sleep - It's just so hard to sleep at the moment
Anyway - loving having my sister to stay, and hopefully she'll help keep the in-laws in check at dinner tonight!
Hugs to you all - have a great day x
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

:hello: Good morning everyone!
Not sure what we'll be doing today, but I think it will include lots of washing - it's so nice to be able to get it dry quickly on the line, and to bring it in smelling lovely and fresh
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAPLADY! :bdaycake:
Redruby - so sorry to hear about your DSis's dogs, that's awful
I do hope they will be okay (((HUGS)))
Have a lovely holiday, everyone who's about to go! (Sorry, can't remember who it was
)
ragz - well done to your DS
catowen - glad Sports Day went well! Please don't upset yourself about your DS's report, he's still very young (although the Year 6 children look so big and grown-up next to the litle ones!) and has plenty of time - my son was the same in Year 6, he was one of the brightest in his class so couldn't see the need to put the effort in. Once he got to secondary school he realised there was a lot more competition, and it spurred him on. (((HUGS)))
Shez (though i think you are on holiday!), Stefejb, VickyA, Bargain Rzl (glad you're enjoying the Proms!), Mrs_mix, Catznine :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello:
And extra waves to Churchmouse and AussieLass as I forgot yesterday:o :hello: :hello:
SnowyOwl - hope your first day goes well! Thinking of you.
Mioliere - I was going to ask you something but it's gone right out of my head  maybe I'll remember later!
((((HUGS)))) to Candygirl, Chrisca, Smoky and all in need
Right, I'd better be off and collect up the first load of washing
Hope you all have as good a day as possible
Best wishes

Morning all, I woke late today 8am due to DB2 phoning at 2am needing to talk. Spent nearly 2 hrs on the phone, he had seen a Phycotherapist (sp) and was very upset at what he remembered about our childhood years, not a happy one. He is still trying to come to terms with the Melanoma and is drinking heavily. I feel so useless, where is the magic wand when you need one? I offerd to drive down and bring him here for a break but he has my niece 16 and nephew 20 living at home and can't leave them. Although when the kids are staying with DD1 in August he said he will come and stay.
Just heard of a breakthrough for curing Prostrate Cancer ( on GM tv ) will email DB1 with details, his last blood count was up again.
I've skimmed through the thread but not much is sinking in, feel so tired.
TAPLADY have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Loads of ((((((HUGS))))) to you all.
Sorry for the depressing post, must get on and do some paperwork.0 -
Hello all
Just got back from town............got a lovely M & S fluffy cardigan from the charity shop..........seemed daft buying a cardigan when the sun was shining and it was so hot but methinks I'll be needing it later on this year.
Builder said he might be back this afternoon and would phone -he hasn't
Soc. Worker said he might call but would phone first - he hasn't
What is it with men and phone calls ? Now I don't know quite how to plan my afternoon.............you can bet your life the minute I get started on something or or other (or both !) will turn up !
Still, at least the suns shining.
Have a good day and hugs ((((((((((:o )))))))))) to those who need themMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hi Beth - it's awul feeling so helpless but you really are doing a lot. You're there at the end of the phone and you show your DB that you care. Just being there can make all the difference. I hope he comes to stay with you in August. Don't apologise for what you think is a depressing post; we're here to listen no matter what and it must help just being able to write it down. The news about the prostate cancer breakthrough is really positive, isn't it? (((Hugs))) to you all. How are your arms, by the way?
Well done to Ragz DS - I well remember potty training my two. The eldest was easy, the youngest wasn't, so I just left him to do it in his own good time. They were both out of nappies when they started playschool at 3 years old (well, the youngest still needed them at night).
Ivyleaf - you've got me really intrigued, now!
Well, back to the ironing and watching Gok's Fashion Fix at the same time.

Hello everyone  happy birthday Taplady - hope you have a good one

candygirl - hugs for you and your dad.
Hester - what squiggly said
catowen - your DS is very young still and TBH just sounds like he is bored and not stimulated enough - that he is talented and gets to that level effortlessly
He will have lots to think about and keep him occupied at secondary school, as it's a very different environment and the work tends to be differentiated a bit more to keep the bright ones occupied.
beth - hugs for you
I'm back from the outlaws and have had two extra days off as my boss is misbehaving and I'm waiting for the grad studies guy to get back from his trip before I return to work. It has been nice - I realised that I've only had two days off all year - and one of those was wasted by being ill. Trip was nice - but I'm not sure I could stand being around for there for a huge amount of time - OH's parents are much more "parental" than mine - if I fell over and cut my knee, they would put me in the recovery position and call an ambulance - mine would tell me not to bleed on the carpet. I'm simply not used to having my collar straightened before I leave the house and being forced to carry a brolly :rotfl: (I'm nearly 30)
His dad also hoards stuff - and the flat has walls made out of boxes of junk now and rooms you can't get into. OH is really embarassed - but my grandmother was the worse, so I'm not that shocked by it. When she died we had to clear a four bed semi - and the master bedroom was full to the ceiling with newspapers so old they had fused into a mass and had to be hacked out with a garden shovel. She only used one third of one room in the whole house. I think it's really sad and probably why I'm such a neat freak. My dad has inheritied the similar broken genetics, but my mum won't stand mess and he'd be in trouble if he didn't comply
OH has been warned
OH's mum is also into alternative medicine, so we got dragged to some therapist who looked at both our bloods under a microscope and told me I had digestive problems (?) and OH was fine but had a small amount of fungi in his blood  I was silently screaming in my head throughout the appointment - having studied heamtology in the past. I got given some "blood purifying tincture" to take before meals which tasted toxic, but indeed did purgue my digestive tract _pale_ . For the first time was so glad about the liquid restrictions in hand luggage
:rotfl:
My appointment with the doctor went well, my new GP is lovely. She's written me two letters which I hope will get Dr Jeckyll off my back. Thanks again to all of you for your support - I don't think I would have plucked up the courage to go on my own otherwise. I'm even seeing the dentist this afternoon as one in my area (central Oxford) is taking new NHS patients. Last time I went it cost me a fortune - and there was nothing wrong - so I'm glad to find a NHS person at last.
Right - should sign off now and do some more writing as my thesis is crying for attention
. have a good day, cel x :staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Taplady enjoy your day, wish I was 42....again.....
_party_ :dance:_party_ :bdaycake:_party_:dance:_party_
Ragz thats right you tell him
dont need grumpy OH in the morning.
aahhhh well done to your little one:T
Redruby O your poor sis((HUG)) and her dog`s, hope they recover soon poor things.
Well... washing almost dry,not very sunny but it`s warm out, DW needs emptying, ironing will get done tomorrow, need to vac round upstairs but will wait until OH has finished in the bathroom, he is fitting a new expelair, the other one had finally given up,so he went to the trade place and got another one.I think I will go and have a potter in the garden, there is always something to do out there.
I feel a bit up and down today, my friend who`s husband died some weeks ago, rang to tell me her mother died while we were away last weekend, she had a severe stroke and never regained conciousness.
I am worried about her she has had a lot to bear over the last few weeks, first her husband died, and the week after his funeral her friend died and now, 4 weeks later her mother.
I better go the tears are flowing.

Happy Birthday Taplady:bdaycake:
Sunny and warm day so windows are all open. Have cleaned the kitchen and having a break on here then will do livingroom. The bedroom is a bit of a mess of clothes and 'stuff' which has accumulated so might give that a zap as well. Have a phone number for someone at college who is able to do some gardening work for me (want to cut back some bushes) but I want to see how much I can do myself. Don't like too much sun though so will wait until evening and then tackle it. 4 garden sacks of cuttings went to the tip last week so it is getting done bit by bit. We're away for a long weekend on Fri so maybe if I get 2 done today and another 2 tomorrow I'll feel that I am getting there!
Have a good day all and ((((hugs)))) to those in need.

Afternoon everyone :hello:
Happy Birthday Taplady  (as Snowy will testify all the best people were born in the 3rd week of July.
)
Thinking of you Candy and Beth. It must be so hard to have such illnesses in the family. Take care of yourselves. xxx
Hope the first day of work has gone well Snowy. x
Well done on the favours Kathy. I did mine for my wedding and they were very fiddly. (gold almonds in ivory voile with gold ribbon)
Catowen.... My twins could not be more different either. One is shy, one is extrovert, one is artistic, one is practical, one is affectionate, one less so and one tries really hard at school and the other (although she is brighter, just doesn't) I'm sure your DS will be fine in High school.
Quiet day today.... Washing is done and on the line, kitchen cleaned and bedrooms tidied. I'm trying to use all the herbs from the garden as they've gone mad this year so we're having pork medallions in tarragon cream sauce with mash and herb salad for tea. It is mostly prepped as I'm taking the girls to the pictures at 6.30 so we'll eat early. Friends coming for a BBQ tommorrow so want to get ahead for that as I want as lazy a day as possible tommorrow.
Picked more berries this morning. Seem to be beating the birds to it. Their feeders are hung among the berries so they seem to be more interested in the seeds. Talking of which, I went on to the deck yesterday to see 2 little mice swinging from the peanut feeder. :rotfl: Very cute.
Take care
