Hi all
Candygirl - special (((hugs))) to your Dad.
RedRuby, that sounds awful - sending (((hugs))) to the dogs and your sister. I do hope they are OK.
Whatatwit - I've never had any luck posting a photo on here but I can post on to the Wooligans Yahoo group and then send you the link, if that's OK? I'll try and post one later on this afternoon. I am doing one type of favour for the top table and a different one for everyone else plus I am still working out what to do for the bride and groom. Considering that I was asked to do this in January and I said 'I'll get them done by the end of June so I don't panic' I cannot believe how far behind I am. I'll warn you now, Whatatwit - it takes longer than you think! Also, don't be too ambitious - I had all sorts of fancy plans but they soon went out of the window for something more simple! Anyway, I'll try and get at least one photo done today!
Well, I have prepped for dinner - decided to go with the leftover breast of lamb with some new pots, carrots, courgettes and gravy and I don't care if it is the middle of summer! Impossible pie has been prepped with some chocolate powder in it and I'll cook that when I get back from the post office.
I've put some washing on the line and hunted high and low for DH's white shirt which he'll need for the wedding. It was bought new last year for DS1's wedding and now we can't find it anywhere! I put all our other clothes ready at the weekend; DH said 'you've got plenty of time for that'. He'd have left it till the last minute and then it would have been too late to find the shirt! At least now I have time to buy another one if we can't find it.
It's a lovely warm sunny day here - I can hardly believe that it actually feels like summer at last. I even have a skirt on in honour of it!
Well, I'd better go and put my face on and go and post a couple of birthday cards that need to go off today.
I'll catch up later.

Just wanted to share my very proud mummy moment. Just helped DS1 decorate his potty with Thomas stickers and then took his pants off, sat down and did a wee with no prompting!
I am soooo pleased (he did fall down the stairs on the way down from flushing it down the loo though so I hope he doesn't associate the experience!)
Hopefully we will only have one in nappies by the end of the summer.:jJune Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Morning all,
Just a quick one as getting ready to go up the seafront with my mum & little niece (3), plus 2 of my DD’s for a picnic J Bit cloudy out but not cold.
Happy Birthday TapLady!!!!! Have a great day (once you’ve done the milkround…)
Redruby, your poor sister must be very worried, hope everything turns out ok.
Hester, I’m sure you are nowhere near thick… not if your blog is anything to go by – you are a very talented writer.
PenPen, it is my middle DD’s last day of school today & then we are all on holiday J I love that feeling in the morning knowing you haven’t got to get everyone up, organised & out!!
Candygirl, bet you are looking forward to having a break from school too; if your dad is sleeping a lot of the time now, hopefully he is not too uncomfortable.
Snowy, good luck for your first day!!!
Rhysdad, don’t tell me that about chocolate, I really need to stop eating the stuff & get dieting – I don’t need encouragement not to!!!
Chrisca, sounds like you are getting there with all the sorting out.

Morning all
Well another fantastic start to my day. DH locked me in the house! Grrrrr! Was supposed to go to the medical room this morning to get some bloods done but as I was a prisoner in my own home obviously couldnt! Looks like I will have to leave work a little early and go this afternoon! Ah well!
Have been in work for about 30 minutes and am bored already! Quite warm here in Belfast today but not looking too sunny at the moment. Hopefully it will stay like this and we will get some gardening done after work. Well more moving all the sods we dug from the front garden to the back.
Am off on Friday thank goodness, really need to get ontop of my washing and ironing. And general housework, though I have a friend calling tomorrow night so probably should fit the housework thing in at some point today!
Anyone know how I can either add a few more hours into my day or survive on about 2 hours sleep?! Lol
Anyway hope you all have a fantastic day

Morning everyone

Day off work today, but no lie in as OH had to be up to go out and do more work :j
Off out soon as it's my friend's daughter's 2nd birthday and I've got some pressies to take round. Need to nip to the post office why I'm out and post the belated ebay parcel and yet another CV for OH.
Then back home for some tidying and sorting around the house (bedroom, kitchen and bathroom are today's targets!). Bangers and mash for tea tonight so at least that's already decided and in stock!
Happy Birthday Taplady ... hope it's a good one!
Sorry to hear about the dogs Redruby .. I nearly cried when you mentioned the son getting out to lay near the mother ... OH says I'm too emotional about animals, I can't imagine why! Although I am nearly in tears everytime I watch Animal Cops Houston!
Rhysdad ... there's a small Sainsburys/Bells near my friends house where I'm going today ... hopefully they'll stock some! Although hopefully they won't have any in stock as only 61 days til the holiday and need to lose some weight!
Snowy ... good luck on your first day.
Sorry if I've missed anyone out but hope everyone has a wonderful wednesday! :wave:Small business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -
Good morning everyone,
:bdaycake:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAPLADY:beer: :bdaycake: - HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL ONE!!!
Well, sports day yesterday was excellent - we are still a school that offers competative sports (hurray) and DD won both her heat and the final of the year 5 sprint, and came 3rd (the 2 ahead of her were boys) in the mini marathon. DS came second in year 6 sprint and won the mini marathon so very proud there! Their team (green) actually came last, but they all put their hearts and souls into the whole afternoon, so it was wonderful.
What wasnt so wonderful was DSs school report and SAT results. Actually it wouldve been brilliant if it wasnt for the teachers comments - we dont actually have the official results yet as our school is one of the many that have sent them back, but his teachers assessment was for all 4s, which i wouldve been very happy with. However, as a typical primary school, in amoungst all the positive comments (and it does make you proud to know he is helpful, friendly and popular) were all the 'what a talented boy, but will not put in the effort', 'can be easily distracted and will distract others', 'he is happy to produce work that doesnt show his true capability' I just do not know what i can do, he was predicted to get 5s - im hoping starting secondary school will give him a chance to 'change his ways' and maybe put more effort in, its such a worry that at this young age, he is throwing his future away. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!!!
DDs school report was lovely, but she is quiet and shy, and is mortified if anyone has a bad word, so always does as she is told and works as hard as she can!!
Was meant to be working today, but LO not well, so here on my own until 2, so planning on doing some cleaning when i can get myself off the computer!!
Hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Catowen ... I was the same at Primary school ... it's because (in my school at least) they have one class for the whole year, no matter what the ability. The teachers are so busy trying to pull up the less bright children that they tend to leave the naturally talented children to carry themselves along, which is a shame. In my whole time at primary school I had only 1 teacher that pushed me to achieve more.
Secondary school was a different matter completely, following first year (when they have to discover what level each child is) they split us all into groups to match our ability. It means that you are then not being held back by others as the children in your class are all around the same and you can all move forward together.
Hope that makes sense

Catowen,
I too have a son and daughter as different as chalk and cheese. DD worked hard at everything and sailed through her school days, DS was just as you describe your son, bright but unfocussed. However, he got 8 A-C GCse's 3 A levels and went to University, graduating last year.
I would sy it took until the third year of his degree for him to really knuckle down to work and he produced a 10,000 word dissertation. He now has a good job with great potential.
I know its difficult not to worry about them but all my worry about ds over the years made not a bit of difference to the outcome.0
