I claimed through natwest under financial hardship, received a phone call telling me I could go into my local branch and collect the money £3276!!
Was very shocked but very pleased, just a message to tell everyone to keep going and not give up xx
How long did it take you to get your money back? I put a claim in over 18 months ago and got the usual standard letter back, case on hold blah blah blah. Then just recently put a claim in under finacial hardship as husband has lost his job. There seems to be a few people who are having sucess with Natwest so this gives me a lot of hope :j

Just an update on progress with my claim.
After an unsatisfactory response from Natwest (ie did not consider me to be in hardship etc.) I filled the FOS forms and sent this with a cover letter and all necassary evidence straightaway.
So far, they have been very helpful. A week after writing to them, they sent me an acknowledgement letter (which I did ask for so not sure whether this is standard practice) with a reference number for my case.
Then yesterday (a month after sending them info) I received another letter explaining that they were in the process of contacting Natwest re my charges. Again, they couldn't give an exact time frame (understandable!) but did say I be contacted within two months. Within the letter they sent all the contact details needed to phone/email them. Along with the letter, they sent information on the process of putting in a claim. This information was not specific to bank claiming (I guess it is the same process for any of their complaints) but it did state that in the first instance, the complaint will get looked at by an adjudicator. If you are unhappy with their decision, it goes on to the ombudsman whose decision is final. It is made very clear that it cannot go on from this point (no ombudsman can overule another ombudsmans decision). The only option after this is to take the bank to court.
I did have to phone them cos they had my gender wrong (!!) and I got through on the phone very quickly and spoke to a real person (miracle of miracles!) who was very pleasant and apologetic. So my advice? Go to the ombudsman but be prepared to wait.
Hope this is helpful to anyone who is unhappy with their banks decision. I have my fingers tightly crossed for a positive outcome!
Further update: After a few letters at regular intervals saying my claim was being looked at and after six weeks of hearing nothing, I received a letter from the FOS yesterday to say my case was being looked at by an adjudicator.
I had kinda hoped that this had been happening during the six weeks I did not receive any communication and now assume it was actually languishing in a pile on someones desk. I guess this demonstrates the level of complaints they are receiving at the moment.
Oh well, at least I now know someone is looking at it properly. They could not give me any time frame which was also a bit disappointing as I have already been waiting over 2 months.
Hopefully though, it will not be too long as I have given them all the information I have.
Fingers crossed still!0 -

Can i be noisy and ask you a couple of questions? Im currently trying to claim against Nat West myself. How much did you claim against how much they paid you? and when did you claim from? They are telling me all sorts of things and i dont honestly know what to beleive.

Also send them proof of any priority debts straight away....they seem to take weeks to respond to any correspondence you send them, and they will ask for these anyway eventually....good luck xx0 -

I originally put my claim in back in 2007, so I have claimed back from 2001-2007, which is 6 years....at that time I could only go back 6 years, but it may have changed now to include all charges, I am not too sure, sorry! x0 -
