Bank Charges Financial Hardship Disussion

Hi I just wondered if anyone could give me some advice??? My brother in law first started re-claiming his bank charges just before the hold started. He's since set up his own business and due to a couple of his customers going bust has lost out on around £35000.00 worth of payments meaning his personal finances are now desperate. I've been told that he needs to write a letter to Lloyds TSB requesting a financial hardship form for I and E. I wondered if there were any template letters for this? Also I wondered if anybody had an address at Lloyds TSB that I should write to? Unforunately he's lost the letter that Lloyds TSB wrote to him back in 2007 when he first started re-claiming so we have no address!!! Have told him he now needs to keep EVERYTHING!!!! Can anyone give me an idea of acceptable timescales of reply from the banks in these cases. Sorry it's just that he seems to think I'll know what to do because I'm a bit obsessed with these forums and successfully reclaimed my charges from halifax but that was before the hold and I don't want to muck it up for him lol.
Thansk in advance for your help.

cant help with LloydsTSB address sorry, but once the financial hardship details are back at the bank they have upto 8 weeks to make a decision, whether they agree with the hardship claim.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

I tried to appy for hardship last year when my case went to court to determine whether it would be stayed or not.. it was ignored at the time and the case was stayed. I have proof of repossession notices from my Mortgage co etc but at that time hardship rules weren't as clear as they are now. In the meantime I have started work again and have just caught up with my mortgage payments. I'm self employed and have just got a tax bill of over 12k for 3 years... Yes I know it's my own fault but was flooded 2 years ago and not insured for all the work needed, then was out of work for 9 months so not as if I just didn't want to pay I just had a priority of keeping my home. Do you think I have any chance of being able to claim under hardship again.. I'm happy to pay the bill off if my contract is renewed but I've recently been told they cannot renew past March at the mo so may well be out of a job again...0

Hi,
Have made a claim under financial hardship to Abbey.
I have checked with the progress of the claim over the phone and have been told that they agree that my case would be classed as hardship.
However thay say they need to do some more checks before coming back to me.
Can anyone who has had previous exp of dealing with abbey gave me any advice.
Thanks0 -
it seems the banks are stalling on every one at the momonet, and the fsa/ombudsman dont seem to be helping alot in genuine hardship cases, the only thing we can keep doing is hassleing the banks like there hassle us for money.
Agree with you, the FOS have been pretty useless in this and are happy to let the banks do this. makes me so cross! No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
They offered me the full whack of all my charges dating back 6 years - however their calculation and mine differs by £1400 (in their favour); I have written to them and ask them politley to re calculate. Their offer is standing at £7,174.00 without interest and no refund of £245.00 MCOL fee and £100 court allocation fee
The customer relations team I spoke to were FANTASTIC - well done NATWEST
Becky-boo, well done! Would you mind telling us a little about your specific harship?
My claim with NatWest also runs to about £7000 and it would be great to get that back because right now the wolf is at the door in many ways... I wish I had some idea of my chances, and the timescale invoved.
My case involves my husband having to retire suddenly due to disability and a whole spate of disasters cush as gas boiler breaking down and needing replacement, roof leaking and needing fixing, etc. I sent in a whole wad of documents, which they have since returned.0 -
arunadasi, you should be eligible for a warm front grant.
As your husband is disabled ,and your finances are low.
I had a successful claim last year, they supplied and fitted a new boiler and some radiators (broken)
They will also insulate your attic and cavity wall if needed.
They were very helpful and easy to talk to.No judgement ,just help.
Find warmfront on the web and call them, they are really good.Good luck.SPC £500 well will try very hard.
GC £6.16/£1500 -
