Bank Charges Financial Hardship Disussion

I applied for financial hardship mid October and have received an offer letter yesterday from Natwest
I also applied mid October to Barclays and despite returning requested financial statement forms and evidence of hardship I have yet to hear anything further from Barclays - I guess they all work to their own timescales
I personally think Abbey will wait until 7 weeks and 6 days!! but have been told they have 8 weeks. Can i just ask what sort of percentage offer did you get from Natwest? sorry if thats rude.
because i have around £900.00 in charges will they offer me 50% do you think?
are you happy with your offer?
cheers0 -
Hi I'm new to this discussion but i too have claimed under financial hardship from Clydesdale bank and it took the full 8 weeks. They have offered me £1000 ( a third of what i'm claiming), as an ex gratia payment until the test case is heard and suggested that i speak to my branch to discuss exactly what help can be provided to alleviate my financial hardship, which may in clude the possibility of switching to alternative products. I just wonder what they are really offering here?
any ideas?0 -

Hi all,
I sent my I&E form to Halifax in October, they received it 30/10/08. I have had lot's of phone contact with them (me calling them , I hasten to add) and all they tell me is that hardship claims are being dealt with in strict date order!! This is 6 weeks now, am I within my rights to push on the 8 week response rule?? I am not sure what to say to them on the phone to get their a**es in gear!! Someone please offer advice. Thanks in anticipation x0 -
Hi,
Also I have only ever spoken over phone and sent I&E. I never received a list of 6 years charges, I think it must be around £6k they owe me, do I need to get this list even though they are dealing with Hardship claim?? :-s0 -

hi
i would say yes you do need to get list together or you may keep going round in circles, my situation is similer to yours, this is the second time i have hit halifax for charges, mine also went in october plus i&e, now at second letter stage, made lots of calls over and over, to keep getting fobed off, they just dont seen to care, hope this helps you a little :mad:0 -
Sorry for what is probabbly very repetitive, but I need to get this done after recently losing my job.
If I have not written to them before about these charges, should my letter just read like this:
"Dear Abbey
I want to claim £XXXX.XX for charges relating to my account for the period of dates-dates.
I believe that my claim should be dealt with under the FSA’s waiver rules as I currently fit the financial hardship criteria and would like this case to be dealt with straight away.
I look forward to your response."
Does it need anything more than that?0 -
hi
yes thats what i would wright and put list of charges in with it and state that you are giving them 2 wks to reply..............and so on. there is a guide letter avalible

Hi,
I rang Halifax today and said that the situation was a joke, especially on lead up to Christmas with 2 kids!! The chap put me on hold and came back to say that it would be dealt with today and I would receive a letter in the next few days!! Hopefully this will then be resolved!!
Will keep you posted!!;)0
