bought the Digifusion 200 £49.33 from Microdirect
but now wish i had'nt, delivered faulty, it was completely dead, waited 4 days to get a RMA number before i could return it to be replaced, they have had it now for 10 days now and i am still waiting for a replacement, email them today and they say another 5-7 days before its inspected :-( what a joke
it should have been replaced before or when i sent it back as it was not working. dont think much of the company bad service.
Mine went dead after a few days! I was very happy with it up till then. I have found Microdirect very good to deal with, both by phone and email. They collected it free and agreed to a refund, so can't ask for more than that. Have decided to buy a new one as it has put me off secondhand refurb. Got to start researching all over again!
  • Just wanted to stick my 2 pence worth in...

After my 2+ year old Philips box packed-in (due to the service upgrade), I was in the market for a new one & figured that I'd checkout Amazon because they do free shipping. I ended-up reading lots of reviews on their site that were full of people like myself that had been stung by the service upgrade & were regularly buying new boxes, only for them to go the same way as previous ones. Apparently the Philips ones are well known for freezing & many of the very cheap ones didn't work out of the box.

Several reviewers recommended buying a Wharfedale, so I figured I'd give it a go. There are a few models, and I went with a one that has low power consumption & also includes an HDMI interface for upscaling the picture quality. It was £35 from Argos.

I'm very happy with it - worked out of the box & is a breeze to operate.
They also have a cheaper model without HDMI for £20.

Hope that helps some that like myself have had a lot of trouble choosing.

  • Tesco are offering the Techwood 80Gb PVR at a discount of £10 at £69.97 with a bonus Technika Freeview Set Top Box for Free. Tesco have had this bonus STB priced at £19.97 (or £19.84) for some time now. It's an opportunity to pick up a PVR for the main set and convert the set in the bedroom. These boxes are all new.

  • Hi
I have the Humax 9200t not the cheapest but pretty reliable , got one upstairs about 18months old and one downstairs 3months old.
Any problems I have had have been solved by reading up on DigitalSpy`s forum.
They are not perfect but what is these days?

    Good Luck!

After noticing that a satellite system for £139 at COMET I told my son about it, and so he went to the local store and purchased one. I too was considering getting one. He was assured by the sales person that if he was not satisfied with his purchase that he could get a full refund. He was not satisfied because the instructions are not clear enough and he also considered it not fit for purpose because it would not receive every digital freeview channel in the UK. The sales literature states that over 250 channels are receivable making it clear that it should at least receive all UK Freeview signals, which it does not.

He returned the equipment and was told that if no fault was found he would not get a refund. This is contrary to a board at the till stating full refunds will be given and he was also given salesperson assurance. It is only when the very small print on the reciept was pointed out, when he returned the item, that any mention of being sent for testing before refund was seen.

My son now feels cheated by Comet becuase even though no fault will be found he still considers the equipment was sold as not fit for purpose, in that it should be able to recieve ALL Freeview channels in the UK.

Be very careful out there, not all money back guarentee's are the same as Argos. I had a similar problem when I tried to return a boiler to B&Q despite it still being in the box and not used, only looked at. The sales person's assurance was given but I did insist on seeing the manager for the original assurance of return and so my refund in the end was given.

80gb refurb PVR, doesn't seem to say a brand, but looks fine at £39.99 inc delivery.

    Hi
Just reading this with lots of interest. However, can I go back to basic techy stuff. We are interested in Sky+ but are baulking at the cost I don't want to threaten to leave cos I can't do with the hassle. Are these boxes the equivilant and can I still subscribe to Sky? Can anyone advise please.

Humax are only for Freeview. ( they also do one for Fox View-Freeview+ by satellite dish) I am sure you need SKY's own box to record SKY digital progs-and it wont record anything else. However, have seen a lot of offers of a cheap SKY box if you subscribe to SKY-obviously competing hard with Virgin cable-so maybe phone them up and haggle -"loyal customer" etc, "will move to Virgin/cancel at end of currnet contract unless..." It can work! Always remember with these people-if you don't ask/haggle/hassle you do not get-or stand any chance of getting.

Fully recommend Humax for Freeview. Have had no problems with channels-they also have a new 500GB version-only available on their website.
