[ ? Am assuming you are talking about what my kids call "Granny Knickers". :D All my cotton ones are on the way out - the elastic always goes! And I definitely fancy silk ones instead of cotton.

We used to call them 'harvest festivals ' All is safely gathered in:rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:

Me? No, I have several pairs of ankle length long johns, two pink, one black silk and one navy blue. I find the silk warmest and most forgettable, because I don't overheat in them either.

Yesterday and today I've been wearing some socks my mum knitted for my dad. They are bright and multi-coloured, and fit perfectly! :rotfl:

  • http://www.patra.com/ also sell silk thermals and a silk/cotton mix which is slightly thicker than the pure silk but longer lasting. I love silk thermals, I can happily wear long johns under jeans or work trousers and still breath plus as someone else said silk regulates temperature so you don't get over hot.

Patra's website wasn't working very well when I tried it yesterday and I imagine they are struggling for stock given the weather but I've used them a few times and they are generally very good.

Patra advertised reduced stuff in yesterday's Guardian, but not much left on the website.

As I scanned this thread DH wandered past.
"What do you think about these?" I asked coyly, showing him a full set of thermals.
He studied the photo carefully. Eventually he uttered.
    "Wouldn't you get too hot?"
"!!!...." I've been freezing cold all week, and he knows it :wall:

I have to say that with the large and capacious fleece jacket I bought the other day, I've not felt cold at all, except when sitting in a draught, and then it was my legs which felt it.

I nearly didn't buy it, it was £6.50 (charity shop!) and I wasn't sure how much I'd wear it, but it's ace!
