Hi Sar, I very rarely comment on your achievements in your life; it is usually just innuendo and smut and for that I am sorry for you and myself (for being a perv). Lately, I only come out of the woodwork when ive only got something rude to say. I feel as though I a not offering anything useful on DFW at all. But strangely I think even my amoebic form of banter is sometimes well received. But what Im trying to say is that there will always be more good than bad on DFW and as Ive heard people describe we are a very huggy community on here; an environment that is second to none and sometimes we do need a realiy pill however that may be prescribed. Criticism is sometimes necessary to give us a jolt back into line but thoughtless vindictive criticism is not welcome. You bring light into more people's life than people bring to yours by offering up nothing but criticism. Standby serious moment from me coming up. Brace yourselves!

IA I haven't had a chance to read your thread lately, but I think that in the past you have been super organised, have worked out everything to the penny, started a band had a child, got a job and STILL managed on a very low combined wage to pay your debts down. AND to do it with a sense of humour, and a wry take on the world too. You have even managed to do this when the world has thrown brick bats your way, like being ill, and being turned down for child minding.

BUT you have been this organised for a LONG time now. And IMHO, I am guessing that you had started to burn out, hence a bit of slippage in your debt totals maybe. PLUS there comes a point when you are being either very frugal or just not spending money because you are a tight wad like me :D , where things just start to wear out. Ie clothes, house stuff etc, so you have to replace them with something and unless you are lucky on freecycle then you have to spend money. And it is not always possible to buy it cheap either.

So don't let this get you down.

And another thing, I think that you would find it almost impossible to come back on here with a different user name, and not mention your family, as they are an integral part of your debt free journey and life.

good luck with whatever you decide

IA you are so honest about everything that of course people will comment on what you have written and this sometimes be opposite of your own opinion/needs.

But really your decisions are your own and you have to do what is right for you and your family and enjoy life as well. You are a motivated, inspirational person who is clearly doing all she can for her family and most importantly herself. So don't be hard on yourself, enjoy some time away from posting and have a breather.

I'll bet that there are loads of people on here that don't post everything about their debts (I know I don't!).

Come back soon, coz I want to see the tattoo too!

Oh dear. it seems that whenever I pop into the DFW board (not as often as I used to), one of the long-termers is saying goodbye! :(

I used to post a lot of personal stuff on here too, mainly about how I missed my family when I worked away and bits about my disabled daughter. All that personal info was used against me by a troll, but I kept posting to abuse and she was PPR'd eventually. I also found that as I was a MFW regular, whenever I expressed an opinion, (which incidently was the same as other people) I was jumped on a lot more by people.

I also felt like I was letting down some of the people in the MFi3 thread because my lifestyle changed (missus gave up work to take care of daughter, so I pay her a wage and a pension) and so I couldn't overpay my mortgage anywhere near as much as I'd originally intended.

I did the 'that's it, I'm off' bit, but the lure of MSE is too great :o and here I still am. I've modified my MSE presence though - I don't show my signature when outside the MFi3 thread (people get annoyed when they see how much money I've 'wasted' on mortgage overpayments, though I've included it here for info), I never put anything personal on here anymore and if anyone attacks me, then I just laugh (:rotfl:) it off in the thread - most annoying to trolls. :) I also don't worry about whether my mortgage will be paid off in 3 years or 13 years, I'm just happy that I've reduced it enough so that we could afford for my missus to give up work and take care of Little One.

I'd suggest you do something similar. Don't post so much financial information about yourself, don't let strangers into your life so much, change your avatar so you're anonymous. Ignore trolls or just pop a :rotfl: comment after whatever they post.

Basically, take as much as you can from MSE that'll help you achieve your financial goals and give back only what you're comfortable with.

    Good Luck IA! :D

Sar.....so sorry to hear that you are feeling got at. You know that I value your opinions highly and, if it wasn't for people like you, I would not know half the stuff I know now!!

Only you know what you feel is best for you at this stage in your life. You are entitled to live your life without criticism - no matter what your decisions are. They are your decisions and we all have free choice.

You don't want to look back on life when you are old and wrinkled and say "I wish I .......". Live life for you and your family - they are the most important thing in the world and I know you adore Ste and your girls.

You are a very inspirational person Sar and you have not let anyone on here down. Please do 'lurk' and keep in touch with the people on here that you consider to be true friends. We will miss you. x

    Hi Sarah

I am an infrequent poster, but do try to follow your threads. Take a break for a while, it will do you good not to have MSE as the centre of your life.

Just remember that you DO NOT have to justify your actions to anyone other than yourself (and maybe Ste). You have come a long way and learnt a lot. The things that you have learnt will never be forgotten. You are allowed to have a life and that sometimes cost money, but you are still young, so enjoy yourself the best you can.

As everyone says, you will be greatly missed.

Take good care of yourself, Ste and the girls.

    All the best

    Vanda

Good luck IA, you will do great with or without this board
