    Hi,

I setup a payment yesterday evening on my LTSB account going to Halifax. On the screan it said that the payment will leave on 13/08 and will take 3-4 days. The money has left my account today and credited to my Halifax account the same day.

How strange - my payment to Egg also went quickly (credited the next day, I think) but it has been recorded as a Fasterpayment receipt. So it seems maybe as if the payments are being sent as Fasterpayments, but only when Lloyds sends them, not when we make the online request?
  • I managed to send a payment 2 weeks ago (on-line banking).

The next week it stopped working. I rang LLoyds (twice) and on both occasions they send there had been a problem but it was now working.

IT ISN'T - or at least not in the same way it did before.

Latest - requested a payment to Halifax yesterday. It said 3-4 days (so that looks like BACS, not Faster Payments). The money left LLoyds today/yesterday (around midnight) and has so far NOT reached Halifax.

I have weekly standing orders that go from Lloyds to Halifax - these are received and the funds availabe in Halifax sameday.

However if i try to make a one-off payment it goes via BACS!
    Crazy
  • I tried to make a payment from Llyds to RBS last night and its sitting as pending due to leave my aco!!!! on 27th (tomorrow). Anyone know why this would be? I take it faster payments are down again?

I cancelled it at 10am this morning and put it through again - still says will go tomorrow

Beacause Lloyds has only ever processed payments 'Mon-Fri' (excluding the w/e and bank holidays) - even were they making use of Faster Payments now (which they are not except for some telephone transfers) Your 'Faster Payment would merely have left on Tuesday and arrived immediately on Tuesday too.

In principle only being able to make instant transfers when the banks are open is not a restriction either - since banks will only collect on bank working days (i.e. nothing much is achieved - apart from interest - by being able to transfer money while the banks are closed.)

PS I suggest you phone them now and they may be able to pay that immediately - otherwise the payment could still take till Friday to reach RBS

LTSB are having problems with the Fast Payments System. After talking to several members of the staff who also have their own LTSB accounts they explained that it has been up and down several times over the past few weeks with long outages on going while work is done on the deployment. Right now it's just best to base your transactions on the time it takes BACS payments to go through.

I must admit it's a bit poor that they have not kept customers updated on the on going problems.

Quite. I have tried several times to transfer funds via LTSB online service and each time it defaults to BACS, yet when I telephone it goes through instantly  although it is irritating having to be put on hold, enter the details on the touchtone and then tell the advisor again what the details are because they have no record of what I just entered  As for the service being down so much, why oh why do they not just put an alert on there when we login so we know not to waste our time trying to put faster payments through ourselves?
