Fasterpayment with LTSB

Hi,

I have heard previously that fasterpaymets cannot be done through LTSB internet banking. Is the service only available through the telephone banking?

Also what is the daily transfer limit for LTSB fasterpayment? I just want to tfr £5k to my FD account urgently.

Thanks

Do it on telephone banking and ask them?

Also have a read of http://www.lloydstsb.com/ways_to_bank_with_us/faster_payments.asp

I have been unable to send faster payments from LTSB to FD through telephony or internet banking.

I attempted to move £500 from LTSB to FD last week via telephony and the telephone adviser informed me that First Direct were not part of the faster payments scheme as yet; the payment has yet to arrive.

I know that FD are definitely up and running with faster payments and can send and receive these.

Nobody at LTSB telephone banking can tell me what the exact requirements / situation is with faster payments. The service provided has been appalling.

...and I say that as an LTSB (contact centre) employee.:p

I really did think that this situation would be the commonest complaints.
Personally I factor in 3-4 working days to all my payments that are time critical such as credit card repayments just as I always have.

I can see faster payments becoming the next big charging issue once the charges issue has been resolved once and for all.

Would you care to elaborate on that? Are you saying 'when they stop being free.. [there will be a fuss]' or are you suggesting that the banks are probably liable for any 'late' (i.e delayed) payment issues (to credit cards mainly) arising since 27 May?

[strike]I think they probably are liable for ballsing this up and that agreement they signed with the OFT in May 2005 committed them equally and did not envisage them taking extra time if they wished. Clearly not all banks are even making FPS available (or even fully available) to their customers - and they are choosing to ignore the spirit (and probably the letter) of this. However, unlike bank charges (court care) there is 'light' at the end of the tunnel with this...[/strike]

Now beginning think I have been wrong about this, and the banks probably have an 'out'. They never 'agreed' to anything, it seems, except to endorse the ideas of APACS on making a FP infrastructure available. The 'payments industry' AND the 'banking industry' both sat on the same 'industry' panel but only the former was bound to do anything. Even the banks were not obliged to update their systems (etc) in the meantime to be ready. You have to go on what individual banks have said they 'will' do to challenge their performance - and the're too smart to make that mistake. [Bit of a shocker - Government threatens to get tough with 'the banks' back in 2000, promises action (etc) but never actually got the banks to sign anything...?]

Lloyds should feel ashamed of their FPS implementation. I've set up several transactions on the phone and then logged in to internet banking and there is no record of it. It has then taken up to 24 hours to appear in the online statement and a further 24 hours to leave the account. I have been told a variety of stories/lies including that FPS *is* available online and that it only operates on Monday to Friday.

Lloyds are up and running now with faster payments online, tried it out earlier and money transfered in seconds.

Still not working LTSB to FD for me.

I did see that online faster payments are now enabled online, but still cannot send the payments.

Telephony informed me that FD are not part of the scheme as yet, which is untrue.

i just made a payment from my ltsb account to my halifax websaver - it arrived instantly!!!

I tried to send the money back from halifax to ltsb and it was telling me the earliest payment date was 25th. So that's not instant yet, but we'll see how long it actually takes

Halifax is only on 'receive' payments I understand (stand to be corrected) so the return will be by snail...(BACS)
