I had a phone call from rolleston blue cross and they are sending forms out for me to fill in and return and a vet release and then they will decide if they can take him on“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0

How much can I save in 2012 challenge

I keep popping back to see if you have found help yet. I hope that the Blue Cross can help. I'll keep everything crossed for you. Still thinking positively for you.
It is upsetting what the WHW has said, but I do tend to agree with them, although how you would be able to make that awful decision I don't know.
I was devastated when my horse died in the field, but in some ways it was probably for the best, as on reflection, I didin't have to make a choice about what to do with her when the time came to part.
I wish there was someway I could help you out.
Take care and keep trying.

hi i found ur thread when i was lookin for ideas on saving money with owning a horse.
im after reading all de posts(crying through some of them) you hav a gorg horse, i really feel for u,when i was a baby my parents bought lady(she was 3)and in de 21 yrs since, i learnt t ride on her,my dad used t throw me up on her as a baby when they used t plait her 4 shows.
anyway t try t cut a v long story short, ive had great times wit her and she has been de mother n grandmother of all my horses n ponies growing up. unfortually her 1st granddaughter(my 1st pony)misty died when she was just 4, she was only broken 6 months n i was heart broken, but since then years later she give me storm(her last foal now 7)who i put in foal when i went t college.
then my father went t sell sparky as a 4 yr old at sales.i used t show him as a foal n yearling n was very close t him, but i had moved counties n dad was already looking after storm n baby 4 me, so their was no way he was going t hold onto sparky as well.
i went home 1 weekend n dad brought me t c sparky, where he had him training 4 sales. when i got dere i was shocked they had him on de walker 4 2 hours, then he brought him into the arena to lunge him n he pulled the mouth outta him, at the same time i noticed he had bad cuts on his 2front legs(he said sparky got cast in de stable, which was tiny 4 his size,17.3hh)
when he went t ride him de poor horse just kept going up in de air or backwards wit de man beating him wit de whip.
in de end i got my dad t move him de nxt day, i moved him down t wex, had to get him retrained wit people i trust, he was difficult to ride 4 de 1st month when i took him over, tryin t get me off etc. 1 of his legs now has grey hair where de cuts were(which had been infected when i got him)i ve spent a lot of money on him but it has been worth it.he was always a big friendly giant and i couldnt bare i hav de same thing happen t him again.
he may only be 5 now but he is so willing me,he hasnt tried to get me off since, and is learning something every week, its expensive but he makes me so happy knowing his happy and actually ride able.
sorry for compelety doing off de point, but some people shouldnt be allowed t keep horses.
strip grazing would help on hay,it would also have him less space to run around in and de grass would also keep longer and come back quicker.
also what about boots instead of shoes ive never used them but u could take them off when he doesnt need them theycost more but would work out better in de long run,try ebay.
keep his feet picked out would also help against those hoof drops.
i hope u find an answer soon. and keep us posted.
