How awful, how long will he be in quarantine for? What do they do with horses who are carrying the antibodies for Equine Herpes?

Sorry to hear your news, also sorry to hear that the woman who was going to take him has bought one instead.

That's awful for you and jim.
You would have thought the woman would have waited a little longer to see the outcome before buying one.

    Hi Horace
From what i understand i think it will be 8 weeks, until antibodies are low
there is no treatment as it is a virus, most horses have been exposed at some time in their life.

I wanted to let you all know that Jim has gone to his new home today.

    He went this morning
The yard had no signs of any virus and we were given the all clear last week.
    :j

The lady who has bought him has her own stables and 6 acres and she rode him nicely. She has youngsters but needed something safe to ride, she is very keen on him and i think he will be very happy. He went for peanuts along with all his tack and rugs and boots but thats OK as i think he will enjoy his new home.
I hope his new owner has as much fun as i did with him

Im sad to see him go but sooooo pleased he has a lovely new home
