Bleeding in pregnancy

Options
I have been bleeding since last week, not red so didn't worry and I have had pains.

This morning I got up and I had bled everywhere in the night so went to A&E this morning as suggested by the EPU.

They could not scan me but did a cervical test which showed nothing to worry about and as I have a scan booked at 9am he said I could go home.

Been home all afternoon, had a nap.. just sat down and started with the heavy red blood again.

I phoned them and they said I would have to go back - can't get there now and don't want to be in overnight. I hate hospitals. Pathetic I know.

If I am miscarrying it is going to happen Dr said. I am not particularly in pain. Should I just go and lie down?

Not first pregnancy.

ETA: Cervix wasn't open anymore than it would be seeing as I have had babies so they suspect infection as there were White blood cells in Urine sample, so possible Cervix damage.

i know this is not what most people want to hear, but if it is a miscarriage there is nothing you can do, i have miscarried numerous times, but even knowing there was nothing i could do, i rested as much as possible anyway. I bled while pregnant with my son very early on and thought i would miscarry, but never i did, there is just no telling. I know 9am seems like an eternity away, if you are very worried i would go to A&E again and ask for a scan.

The good news is, is that the cervical exam was good, I am praying for you that all goes well.

Hun, if they say you need to go in - even if you hate hospitals - might be as well. I'm not medical but my opinion is based on what happened to me some years ago. Maybe there's someone medical who can give more detailed info but this is what I would advise a friend in your situation.

If it's a miscarriage - and I hope not - then your doctor is right but there may also be the danger of incomplete miscarriage, in which case you risk losing a lot of blood. You don't want to risk your health. Is there a friend could go with you? Meanwhile do rest if you can.

I had to go in for a miscarriage and had a D&C - it was necessary to ensure I didn't go on bleeding.

If it isn't a miscarriage - you still don't want a lot of unexplained bleeding.

I have three healthy children since, and had some bleeding with the oldest. Iwish I could come and hold your hand but please - get it checked.

When he came to examine me it was back to old blood so they just said come back in the morning.

The young female Dr went into great details about how Ectopic pregnancies 'pop' and you could 'bleed to death' which wasn't what I wanted to hear.. but now, not in much pain really just a bit weary.

I am 80% for just lying down but then I worry if something gets worse in the night.

Have never miscarried before so don't know what that is like, but at this stage on (I am 10 weeks, though I was further along) I reckon they just let nature run its course.

No scans at Weekends in our hospital.

For the sake of your life and the unborn baby, go back in hun, arm yourself with loads of books and go do it.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

I could always get someone to go up there with me but it's almost 9pm at night now and I don't want to trouble anyone - everyone had work tomorrow!

I see what you mean about the lady saying I should go back up there, but she was just a worker on the ward.. I only told her the basics and the bleeding hasn't filled a pad yet which would be worse.

Going to wait an hour and see how I go. Need to pee but daren't look :o

  • Dippychick, just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you, hospitals aren't so bad, they looked after my mum really well.

I don't know what to say, be well, I hope everything is ok and it's just a scare.

Could it not just be the cervix playing up again though?

If it was a miscarriage he would have spotted it this morning.

If you went back tonight and stayed in at least you would be at the front of the queue for the scan in the morning, or a bedside one this eve, then you would know for sure.

Bleeding during pregnancy is something that does happen but if this is the first trimester then there is that miscarry risk, if you do and are O neg, ask for a anti D injection to help you conceive and keep the next.

    fingers crossed for you

Now what's more important - you and the baby or someone yawning through a day's work? Call a friend - people are likely to be in this time on a Sunday evening.
You won't feel any more like going in an hour, get an overnight bag packed just in case and get your self down there.
I wish I could tell you to wait and see how you feel tomorrow, but that wouldn't work. It's now you need someone to check you again - the situation could have moved on since you were last checked.

Think I am A Negative Rhesus so if it were miscarriage they would give the Anti D. I asked them that today but I think it is only if it IS the baby causing me to bleed (or loss of baby).

I wasn't aware that the Anti D helped you conceive - I know it protects the next baby though :)
