Choosing not to mention flying today - more done outside and hey there is always rainy days for inside work - did I say I wasn't going to mention it:rolleyes:

Yes he has to sign the forms... if he contests it it will go to the judge and it will be decided by the judge who your niece would be better off with.. the fact he barely sees her.. and she has been with them for 2 years would of course go very much in their favour.. it is a 15 minute formality... BUT.. it requires an assessment by SS usually... not always!! Your niece would be a 'ward of court' in the meantime BUT as she is in a safe environment they would leave her where she is.. so there is nothing to worry about there!

If he doesn't fill in the forms for the residency thing it will go to the court and that will go against him.. but they will give him about 3 chances to fill them in.. it can take a while but it IS worth it.

One more issue might be that they will try to force contact between your niece and her dad.. if your parents say he can have access any time it isn't good enough.. they have to make a set time.. eg.. every Saturday 12-5pm.. if he hasn't bothered turning up in the past it is unlikely he will do this.. the judge just likes to make sure all avenues are covered and be assured contact between father and daughter is not being denied.. it is all a formality really an exercise in paperwork. Unless he has been convicted of a violent or 'adult' crime, in which case they can bring this up in court and insist on supervised access, but this is only an issue if he gets difficult.

And if they aren't involved already they will send CSA round to him.. more trouble than it is worth IMO.. but they have to do it apparently.

I think pigpen has given you excellent advice (as usual). Does your mum get child benefit for her and does the father pay anything towards her keep?

Mudbath - thats such great news
Well done to all the flybabies results in SATs and other different tests :T (still cant quite get my head round testing the kids the assess the teachers, but never mind  )

prettypennies - another one with mad hair here. My family, rather unkindly, have been known to refer to me as 'burst couch'. I've tried everything to calm it down, but the only thing that works is a skinhead and I have no intentions of going down that road.

G&B - could you not get any deals for Deep Sea World?

nicki - I was on the superlambanana trail last week. I think my fav is supergrass ;) I'll need to get my pics onto facebook. I want a superlambanana for my birthday. I thought you could get a full size one for £100, but they are only 2 feet high. I thought it would look really cool in my garden and no one here (except my Liverpool chums) would have a clue what it was :rotfl:

hex - sorry, but I had to laugh at the anniversary thing. My mum is dreadful at remembering dates. The only birthday she remembers is mine and thats only because I share it with a cousin and my niece! Although she's never very sure how old I am! She had to ask me if I was 40 this year. Er, no that would be next year  Do you use a diary or calendar? I always stick birthdays and stuff in both my calendar and my diary. At the end of each month, I check what birthdays, anniversaries etc are happening in the following month. I get whats needed, write the cards and if any are to be posted, I write the date that I need to post them where the stamp goes. I maintain a separate account for birthdays etc and put money in that account every month, so there is always money there if I need to buy an unexpected gift or if a baby arrives that I've forgotten about.
