Saw my GGD2 and was really pleased as we dont see her very much.

I thought I'd already told you lot but I haven't apparently :rotfl: DD1 got her report (end of Year 2 so sitting her first lot of SATs as well), glowing report as usual  just once I'd like something not so good said about her apart from the fact she can't shut up :rotfl::rotfl: She got her SAT results, English & Maths = 3 and a level 2 for Science, since Level 2 is what they expect at her age I'm very pleased. At first she wasn't impressed as she thought it worked like places in a race and she'd done really badly so I made her sit and read out the guide on the bottom of the results sheet so she understood :rotfl: Now she's very happy and understand why she got the prize she did (National Treasure box set
), along with her new trainers from my mum & dad she's well chuffed. :rotfl::rotfl:

MY DARLING LITTLE BOY DOESN'T HAVE TO HAVE AN OPERATION THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the first year of his life he's not needed one. I am so, so, so, so relieved.

Evening all
What a mixed bunch of emotions we've had on here today.
Justamum - glad you got the oil sorted out. And big hugs - I'm sure you're not as gargoyle as you think you are. Have you ever thought about having some assertiveness type training to help with your confidence?
Boddy - big hugs. What a tragedy and what a shock to find GS has been going there all that time. It's only natural for you to keep thinking about it - but time will help as Pigpen said.
Mudbath - wonderful news! I'm really pleased for you all!
And everyone else - hugs for those who need them. Congrats and cheers for those who have achieved something and whose children have had their SATs results. There was an interesting quote on the radio yesterday about how SATs don't actually really matter for the child - they are never taken into account. It's the teachers that are under test and not the children...
Well, I've been quite productive since I got home. Had a hygienist appointment so popped home first to drop the dog off and put some washing on. Got back, bit of pig is already in the oven for dinner, cushions covers washed last night are back on the cushions and the washing is now pegged out on the line. I'm off on Friday (have a meeting in town) so tomorrow, really, is the start of my weekend and I'm looking forward to itI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

That is right.. BUT the teachers use it as a starting point in the next class.. when the child is moved up to high school the results are passed to the new high school and they use them to provisionally band them in certain subjects according to ability.. then they have them sit the CAT's tests and reband them.
Obviously the teachers KNOW it is them being assessed and put additional pressure on the children. whereas if it was simply a child assessment they would put less pressure on the children as it would have no repercussions on the teacher.
End of year teahcer assessments were more than adequate, and plenty of stress for the children.. when done correctly and I dont think it is possible to have any kind of testing without someone complaining about it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I did get some work and some tidying done - but not a lot. My report would say easily distracted, must try harder. Poor attention to detail.
Had another good day with the boys. Right up until I decided to cut their hair - something they both hate which is why they get done at home. Unfortunately I forgot to put the 15mm adaptor on the shaving thingy and they now have 2mm all over hair. By the time I realised DS1 had a large patch off the back so I had to finish his off, and DS2 wanted his done to match as he likes DS1s. At least it will be some time till they have to have it done again but they do look awful. Never mind.
Kind MIL sent us an anniversery card, which set me off in a panic. I had to get out our wedding cert to check and it isn't until Sunday which gives me time to think of something. I wish I was better at remembering dates.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Hex.. I number 2'd mine too.. saves cutting it again so soon and it will have grown to a reasonable length by the time they go back to school..
.. and it gets rid of any lurky lice!! LMAO!! DS1 has a number 1.. and a massive black eye.. and a smashed in mouth.. and looks like a thug!!

Hi everyone! Running late as ever!
Spent today at work - even though it's supposed to be the holidays - but have managed to do some flying! Dusted the fire place (having taken down the mass of kids paperwork first) and amazed myself by remembering to water percy the peace lily BEFORE he was drooping all over the carpet.
Tried the Jamie Oliver bacon and courgette and pasta bake thingie from the £5.00 advert - DH DS and I loved it, DD1 and DD2 didn't. Oh well - its easy to cook so will make it onto the menus!!
Also - have been a numpty today and when making bread - put 6oz of flour in breadmaker rather than 600g!! That will teach me to concentrate rather than cook whilst singing along to Take That!! (I only found out when I peered into the window of BM and saw a puddle of sludge). Ooops!
Congrats to all on the SATS!!!!!
JAM - keep going with the positive thought! (sending some your way)
Mudbath - fantastic news!
right - ABSOLUTELY no flying later - I have a hot date with Mr Penry-Jones, a bottle of wine and a LARGE bar of plain chocolate - YUMMY.....(drifts off into realms of fantasy............)
