Struggling to find the original creditor letter ;-(
Any help much appreciated....0 -
Can anyone help?
I was made BR last year and just checked my CRF.
I have an account that is under the closed section using checkmyfile.com. Under the call credit column it has a default satisfied date but under the Exquifax it doesn't.
1) Does this matter?
2) If it does how can I get Equifax changed? Contact the lender or Equifax?
Thanks0 -
A question, I pretty much cleaned up my credit file just after I was discharged in 2011, but on checking my credit report today re-reading the clean up thread and wondering if I need to go back to some of them.
2 are 12 and 14 days past the BR date and two are 26 days past, rest are correct.
However, I'm a little confused. Is the default date the most important thing to correct? All my old debts are showing as settled or satisfied, but the satisfaction date on one is over a year after discharge date, does that matter? Also, with two it says "Partial Settlement" and again, one of them has a date that's about 4 months past the discharge date?0 -
Need to do some updating/replying on this thread.
Will try tomorrow.

hi all, can someone just confirm that the only date on the CR I need to work about is the default date (assuming its also marked as settled, partial settled or Satisfied?). I don't want waste my time asking them to amend something that's unimportant or tell them to do something that's incorrect.
As things stand, my CR looks like this (apologies for the vague descriptions, but don't like having too much identifiable data out there)
BR date 27/04/10
Loan
Default 27/04/10
Current balance Satisfied
Partial Settlement start date 01/04/2011
Bank a/c 1
Default 19/06/10
Current balance Satisfied
Satisfaction date 31/08/12
Bank A/c 2
Default 19/06/10
Current balance Satisfied
Satisfaction date 31/08/12
Bank loan
Default 27/04/10
Current balance Satisfied
Max Recovery/Credit card
Default 27/04/10
Current balance Satisfied
MBNA (same debt as MAX recovery above)
Default date 08/05/2010
Assigned to CAIS member 01/07/2011
Current balance Satisfied
TTI SPC/Credit card
Default 06/05/2010
Current balance Satisfied
Satisfaction date 27/04/2011
Partial Settlement start date 01/8/2011
As you can see, some of the defaults are correct, some are about 2 weeks out, but two are 53 days past the BR date. Beyond the default dates, does everything else look okay?
Finally, I'm also a little concerned with the MBNA/Max recovery entries as they are the same debt. Should they both be on there? Shouldn't it just be one or the other, or does the entry on the MBNA which states its been assigned to a CAIS member mean its just there for info purposes?0 -

As you say, some of the default dates are incorrect, which will delay those entries dropping off your credit files in 2016 by the amount of days the default is late.
You can try to get those corrected, or just leave them. Depends whether you think the effort is worth it to get them all of on the same date in 2016?
Your call considering how import you think that might be to you then?
Some settlement/satisfaction dates are late as well, as they should be the same as you discharge date. They however are not critical, and are something to correct if you are bothered.
The extra Max Recovery entry is OK, as the original says that the debts has been assigned to a CAIS (Credit Account Information Sharing) member, meaning that is just left there for your info and only you can see it. Anyone else checking your report will just see the one entry.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks again Fermi, I think I'll leave the MBNA/Max ones as they are only about 2 weeks off what they should be, but will definitely contact the bank ones as they are off by 2 months and also have the settlement dates over a year later than they should be. A
s they are actually both the same bank (just different accounts), could I send them one letter asking them to update both records or will that just confuse them?0 -
Yes, I think I did 3 accounts (one current account and 2 cards) with the same letter. Just listed the accounts, and demanded that all 3 were corrected.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

1. Not crucial as long as the default date is correct.
2. Can do both, but most crucial is to dispute with the lender.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
